Many people have asked me what happens during an Open Sky Session on the sim, well here is a real summary of a 90 min Open Sky Session with one of our clients, so you get an idea.
This week we had the pleasure of the company of Leon and Dieye for a 90 minute Open Sky experience.
Leon travelled to the UK from Poland. As a surprise Dieye arranged for Leon to fly our Boeing 737-800 simulator. He asked if it would be possible for Leon to fly from Warsaw Chopin Airport (Okęcie). With thousands of airports to choose from, capable of taking a 737-800, we were very pleased to accommodate this request.
Leon took the captain's seat and hand flew the exact replica of a 737-800 for 90 minutes. He departed from Warsaw Chopin Airport, runway 15. He climbed to 5000 ft then made a perfect left turn heading towards and crossing the Vistula River. He then turned us left again keeping the beautiful city of Warsaw on our left. After some climbs and descents, Leon flew us back to runway 15 for a visual landing.
Leon’s home village of Grójec is around 40 km south of Warsaw. Leon made a second take off, this time from runway 11. Leon flew us south, flying VFR, following the E77 road. Within just a few minutes, thanks to our great 4K graphics, Leon easily recognised his hometown as we approached, which he pointed out eagerly with a big smile on his face. Leon flew us at 700ft in a circuit around the town, with an even bigger smile on his face (good job the CAA weren’t around). We then returned to Warsaw Chopin Airport for a landing on ILS runway 11.
The sky really is the limit when it comes to our Open Sky experience. If you have a favourite airport or city you’d like to visit, in the captain’s seat, at the controls of our Boeing 737-800 airliner, then get in touch and let us know how we can make your dream come true.
