What an incredible weekend we’ve had courtesy of Stile Antico! They blew us away with their programme celebrating William Byrd on Friday night, and held a wonderfully uplifting workshop, concluding with choral evensong on Saturday. Our thanks go to them for sharing their beautiful gift of music with us.

PROGRAMME
The workshop represents a great opportunity to sing William Byrd’s Mass for Four Voices on the 400th anniversary of his death. Works to be studied are as follows:

Byrd (ca.1540-1623) Haec Dies
Byrd. Mass for Four Voices
Farrant (ca.1525-1580) Lord for thy tender mercy’s sake

Gibbons (1583-1625) Almighty and Everlasting God
Tomkins (1572-1656) Ye children who do serve the Lord
Gregorian Chant Salve Regina (Solemn)

The programme is carefully chosen to form a liturgical whole. Jordan Spencer will officiate, with Luke Spencer directing the music. Please let us know on the application form if you would like to stay for this.

RHAGLEN
Mae’r gweithdy yn rhoi cyfle arbennig i’r cantorion ganu gwaith William Byrd sef ‘Mass for Four Voices’ ar y pedwar canfed penblwydd o’i farwolaeth. Cyfansoddiadau i’w astudio fel y gwelir isod:

Byrd (ca.1540-1623) Haec Dies
Byrd Mass for Four Voices
Farrant (ca.1525-1580) Lord for thy tender mercy’s sake
Byrd Ave Verum
Gibbons (1583-1625) Almighty and Everlasting God
Tomkins (1572-1656) Ye children who do serve the Lord
Gregorian Chant Salve Regina (Solemn)

Mae’r rhaglen wedi ei ddewis i ffurfio gwasanaeth litwrgaidd cyflawn. Er fod y gweithdy ei hun yn gorffen am 4.30yp, mae gwahoddiad cynnes i’r cantorion i aros ychwaneg yng nhyd-destun litwrgaidd yn yr eglwys ei hun. Y Parchedig Jordan Spencer fydd yn gweinyddu, gyda Luke Spencer yn cyfarwyddo y gerddoriaeth. Os ydych am aros am y rhan yma o’r rhaglen, rhowch wybod ar y ffurflen gais, os gwelwch yn dda.

LUKE SPENCER (Tiwtor)
Cafodd Luke ei eni yng Nghaerlyr, ac roedd yn aelod ifanc o gor Eglwys Gadeiriol Caerlyr. Hwyrach, fe wnaeth astudio organ a llais yng Nholeg Cerddoriaeth Brenhinol Gogledd Lloegr; hefyd astudio ym Mhrifysgol Caerdydd, ac yna cerddoriaeth cysegredig yn ‘Pontificio Istituto di Musica Sacra’ yn Rhufain o dan hyfforddiant Cardinal Bartolucci. Mae Luke yn adnabyddus fel arweinydd, organydd, ac unawdydd. Tan yn ddiweddar roedd Luke yn arweinydd Cor Bach Caerdydd. Mae nawr yn Gyfarwyddwr Cerddoriaeth Cor Dyfed. Mae hefyd yn Bennaeth Celfyddyd Mynegiannol yn Ysgol Penrhyn Dewi.

Neuadd Eglwys Sant Ishmael, Uzmaston, SA62 4AA
Mae pentref deniadol Uzmaston tua dwy filltir a hanner o Hwlffordd, sef prif dref Sir Benfro. Mae parcio ar gael ynghanol y pentref. Nid yw’r lleoliad o fewn cyrraedd cerdded o’r orsaf tren yn anffodus. Ond mae’n bosib trefnu cludiant ymlaen llaw. Fydd te a choffi ar gael am ddim yn ystod y dydd, ond dylai cyfrannwyr dod a bwyd eu hunain, yn ogystal a chwpan hefyd.
