It is exactly a year ago today that we had a very special visitor here at Monk Haven Manor B&B . Sir David Attenborough stayed with us while filmi on Skomer Island for his series ‘Wild Isles’. what a privilege and honour . He came back again in August to film the Manx Shearwaters and the crew came back here for breakfast and film a short sequel for the series in our garden. This is shown at the end of each episode when Sir David talks about conservation. So we were doubly honoured. It certainly was the highlight for all our staff to meet him and a privilege to serve him

Being in the garden on such a lovely day as today, listening to the birds and realising that we have blackbirds nesting in the Virginia creeper on the house, a pair of blue t**s in a hole in one of the apple trees in the orchard, a songthrush nesting behind the patio wall, house martins in the shed in our vegetable patch and also in my son’s lodge on his porch. Robins are nesting in our row of hydrangeas and wrens always nest in our little side garden. The birdsong is amazing.
I have always loved the dawn chorus here in the spring but now the sound of them all as the sun passes the valley is amazing! I feel really blessed to be here and partaking of their joyful Ed’s

🐧 We've been getting lots of questions about our puffins recently 🐧

Puffins can be seen on Skomer from mid-March till end-July. If planning your trip to Skomer around the puffins, we'd generally recommend visiting in late-April, May, June, or early-July ⛵ This is because puffin numbers vary day-to-day at the start and end of their season.

We had a very special visitor here at Monk Haven Manor last Summer.
Sir David Attenborough and his film crew stayed here twice while filming on Skomer Island for the new series ‘Wild Isles’ around Britain ,which is starting on 12 March at 7:00 pm. They also filmed a sequence in our gardens which may be used in the series. Very excited about all of this and honoured that they chose to stay here not once but twice.
Don’t miss the series , they all look fantastic
