What sets Balcombe Place apart?

For the entirety of your wedding weekend, the whole house is yours. Use it as however you want!

With access to the house from Friday afternoon to Sunday late morning, you and your chosen guests make the house your home. We have 14 beautifully renovated bedrooms available for up to 28 guests, each very unique. Match the room with the personality of the guests you’ve invited to stay!

Included in your stay are 4 house-meals, prepared on site by our in-house chef. How you want them and what you want is up to you. Our chef will work with you to create your dream bespoke weekend menu. Use the inviting guest kitchen for afternoon tea and our stunning dining room for an intimate dinner party the night before your wedding. A full English breakfast is always needed the morning after, helping to soothe sore heads and debrief the night before.

IT’S CHRISTMAS IN 35 DAYS!! Yippee!!

We have worked really hard on producing the perfect gift, for our couples, past, present and future. - and everyone inbetween!
What a wonderful reminder on Christmas Day, of a building that holds so many memories.
Our Balcombe Place Pine & Elderflower gin, uses the pine from our Christmas trees that we grow on the lawn - how amazing?!

We can also offer in the Balcombe Place bottle; Strawberry & Pink Peppercorn, Virunga Honey Rum and 0% Gin.

Hello!

We are looking for a Bar Manager at our beautiful wedding venue Balcombe Place.

Must be over 18, experience is preferred.
Events are mostly on Saturdays (not every weekend!)
Dates available on request.
Shifts likely to be from 7pm - 1am.

Main duties:
Setting up the bar
Running the bar
Serving drinks
Closing down the bar and house

Must be reliable and trustworthy.

S&N originally contacted me, but decided Balcombe Place was too big for their intimate wedding.
After pleading with them to come and see the house, they fell in love and realised how perfect their wedding would be here.
The weekend was full of pure fun,love and joy, and one that we will all cherish.

The Green Room is one of the most beautiful bedrooms with richly embroidered hangings surrounding the four poster bed.

We officially announce The Sun Room ….. OPEN! 🎊🎊 An open air, unique and hidden room found in the garden.

The Sun Room, formerly known as The Tea Rooms, has been a real labour of love to restore. Our Founding Director, Fo, brought it back from the brink of ruin with painstaking attention from amazing stonemasons. The floor and walls were crumbling away and incredibly dangerous, now look at them! We are so proud and excited to see what events we will hold here.

The new name - to stop confusion with a public tea room - is perfectly fitting as it’s a beautiful sun trap. The view through the glassless windows to our Christmas trees on the lawn is fantastic.

Our aim for the room is to be used during our wedding weekends for Friday evening drinks/bbqs and also as a separately available venue to hire. Don’t worry, exclusive use is still our ethos - we will never have two events at the same time. Please get in touch if you’re interested in holding an event here!

Evening Food has become such a big part of the wedding day.

With ceremonies early in the day and wedding breakfasts being eaten at lunch time, guests are often ready for an extra, more casual meal. Sometimes in place of dinner and sometimes much later on in the night - helping to give a bit more energy to weary guests for the dance floor or to soak up the copious amounts of champagne drunk.

There are such huge numbers of food trucks out there to choose from. Caterers often have their own ‘evening food’ menus. If you’re looking for some guidance, opinions or simply don’t know where to start, we have our Little Black Book of recommended suppliers. Suppliers that are tried at tested by us at Balcombe Place, ensuring the high standards we uphold are maintained. We’ve recently added some new, amazing food trucks and we are always looking for innovative suppliers so please get in touch if you’d like to be considered to be on our books. From pizza trucks to ice cream vans, we have it all. Please ask if you’re in need of assistance - we are always here to help!

We love hosting all sorts of events! Christenings, birthday parties, celebrations of life, wakes, balls, dinner parties - whatever you can dream up, we can host.

Unique details at every turn.

Balcombe Place has a fantastic and varied history. Evidence of this is found all over the house - inside and out. It can be a bit of a treasure hunt to find them all. From the beautifully detailed ceilings in the bedrooms, complete with hidden Denman crests to the carved gargoyles, each different from the last, that decorate the outside.

When you come and visit us you’ll often find our Founding Director, Fo, telling stories of the family history as a descendent of Lord and Lady Denman herself. The house was built with entertaining in mind, a feeling still present today, over one hundred and fifty years later.

On Friday evening we held our first Booked Couples Wine Tasting event.

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect evening, it was warm enough to be able to welcome our guests on the terrace with a Balcombe Place Gin and Tonic. Our guests mingled, sipped their gins and watched the sunset before they moved to the dining room to begin the wine tasting.

Together with Marcus Thorold of we offered our guests sparkling wine, whites and reds to taste. Marcus talked us through the different wines and answered any questions. The guests snacked on charcuterie boards created by our in-house chef.

Next, David from produced 2 delicious cocktails for everyone to try and explained the process of creating bespoke cocktails for larger crowds at weddings.

It was a beautiful evening that our couples enjoyed hugely. Hopefully we will be organising more in the future! Cheers!

Outdoor ceremonies with the house as your backdrop, the calmness of the Sussex countryside surrounding you, it really is idyllic.

The countdown is on to our first wedding of 2024 …. We can’t wait!

After a long winter break, used for maintenance of the house (and the house staff 😉) we are so excited to be opening our doors again. The first wedding is only a few weeks away. Just enough time left to swoon over these fireplace florals designed and executed by for our showcase earlier this month. Let’s hope some of our 2024 couples take inspiration - it truly was beautiful!

I can’t wait to see what 2024 holds for floral trends. We are hoping for seasonal and whimsical like the instillation here - what about you?

Couples Wine Tasting Event

We are so excited to announce our wine tasting event we are hosting on the 10th of May. We are lucky enough to have Marcus Thorold of helping us with the evening. Marcus has years of experience and will be on hand to describe the wines and answer any questions.

Choosing the right wine for your wedding can be a stressful decision, but we are here to ensure the process is as enjoyable as possible. Of course it will be enjoyable - lots of wine is involved!

Seating up to 28 guests, here you can host the perfect candlelit dinner party, or perhaps the de-brief breakfast after ‘the night before’.

Wow. Now we’ve had a chance to breathe, we want to say THANK YOU to all of our incredible suppliers who came to our showcase on Sunday. We are so proud, both of how the house looked and how beautifully everyone worked together. The day was an incredible success and we look forward to doing more events like that in the future. The fact that the sun shone was the cherry on top!

The day wouldn’t have been possible without our lovely suppliers in whom we trust completely. It was fantastic to see them chatting with booked and new couples alike.

An extra huge shout out to our brilliant wedding and events coordinator, Grace. She organised and ran the day absolutely perfectly. I’m sure everybody can agree - she’s a serious asset!
