Saturdays Grand Garden Party between the Reeds at An Hyreth and the Laitys next door are being opened at 12 noon by local celebrity Mr Nigel Pascoe. There will be light lunches and cream teas. Stalls include a grand raffle, a huge book stall, 4 tables of bric-à-brac, Paula’s gnomes, ice creams, a delicious cake stall, some cracking plants, a smellies stall, a teddy tombola, a bottle stall, gifts and lovely unwanted presents. There will be a provisions bring and buy stall too. Then we will be guessing the name of the Teddy, guessing the weight of the cake and how many sweets in a jar and loads more. At 2pm Mr Nigel Pascoe will be answering you gardening questions, so come along with your plant puzzles and q***r questions on plants. A donation for the seats per question.
All prizes announced at 4 pm.
Now we Laitys and Reed’s live up a very steep hill and the best thing for you to do is park at the free fair ground or St John’s or Pendles and ring 07793495024 which will put you through to the shuttle cars who will come and pick you up and drop you back later in the afternoon.
This event is fundraising for the new seats in the Epworth Centre, securing a quality theatre space for this area. Each seat will cost us about £350 and there are 160 of them. Over £35,000 has been raised already and this is about half way. Grants have been applied for but not forthcoming yet. The current seats days are numbered. Whatever you can give will really help and help secure the Epworth Centre as a quality venue in our town and on this peninsula.
Looking forward to welcoming you xx

Epworth Hall Helston

This Grade II listed building offers a fantastic community space for a wide variety of events.Hosting sports clubs, theatre, performing arts and commercial activities.

The Epworth Hall was originally a Wesleyan meeting house, built in 1798. It retained a mix of sacred and secular duties until 1888 when a new Chapel was built. In 1988 the ceiling of the ‘new’ Chapel was declared unsafe and the Epworth Hall was used until 1994 when it closed.

In 1998 a on going project to develop the historic Grade II Epworth Hall began , leaving the exterior unchanged, but refurbishing it inside for theater, sport, art and commercial activities for the benefit of local people began.

To date we have installed a disabled stair lift, new toilets and kitchens with new entrance a ramp a fire alarm system and much more there is still a fair way to go but the management group are determent to reach its goals and this lovely large building will continue in strength and give the Community a grand multi purpose area.
