Good morning folks... Friday evening disappeared under a haze of 'I'm poorly Granny and I just want mummy...' Bless his little cotton socks, he's hopefully on the mend. So today (Saturday) I'm at the Helly's Christmas Fair in the Old Cattle Market in Helston from 11-4. First time there so super excited! Sunday sees me back in Perranporth at the Memorial Hall (11-4:30) after a couple of months absence... So looking forward to seeing friends and, fingers crossed, some customers too 😂 This beautiful view is the Helford River from a few years ago

C H R I S T M A S C R A F T S

Looking for that unique present, love to support small businesses and buy from local Makers, Artists and Crafts people?

Then Helston is the place to be this Saturday 25th November as the Old Cattle Market and the Museum of Cornish Life are both holding Christmas Craft Fairs welcoming over 60 local Makers to the town.

Hellys Craft Fair returns to the Old Cattle Market at Coronation Park, from 11am – 4pm and for the first time is partnering with Helston Art Group to bring you a Craft Fair and Art exhibition.
Head over to Hellys Craft Fair page to see a full list of Makers including Amy’s Silver Jewellery, the fantastic Cornish Flapjack Shack, One Blue Eye and more!

There will be free craft activities for the children and why not head over to the Lakeside Café between 2pm-4pm for their Christmas Trail and a chance to meet Santa (booking required see below).

The Museum of Cornish Life is once again hosting their popular Christmas Craft Fair with over 30 Craft Stalls, so take a wander through the exhibits and pick up some unique Christmas gifts along the way, don’t forget to pay a visit to their Christmas Grotto between 1pm-3.30pm during your visit.

With just a short walk between the two venues its worth making a day of it! Helston also has a fantastic range of independent small businesses so don’t forget to pop into the shops and cafes in town along your way.

Karen from Cornish Craft Art is inspired by her walks and swims on the North Cornish coast, where she gathers driftwood and shells. She uses recycled materials as much as possible, her tide clocks are made from recycled pallet wood. Her knitted or crafted items such as bunting are made from materials that have been pre-used.

Disco Fox Louise makes resin jewellery and homewares all crafted here in Cornwall. She makes bespoke pieces made to order. She is currently creating samples for her winter range which have crushed glass and gold leaf mixed into the resin to give a really alluring finish. She describes her jewellery as Luxe jewellery for the disco lover.

Cornish Flapjack Shack Neil from the Cornish flapjack shack, prides himself by using the best quality ingredients. Everything that comes out of his ovens are made with the upmost care, and is always homemade.
His journey began in 2016 when he decided to put his flapjack skills to work. Trialling different flavour combinations and slight recipe tweaks in order to create the perfect flapjack.
