Our team has been working tirelessly, 24/7, for the past 6 weeks in order to deliver a major part of a stand for an event across the Atlantic.

We undertook the task of transporting a wave machine for a high-profile event in Vegas. The journey started with a build, packing and pickup in London. Our team constructed the machine, as well as building a custom packing crate around it to withstand the rigours of international transport complete with relevant inbuilt anti-tip devices and instructions, thereby ensuring that the crate was kept upright on its journey to keep the glass intact.

Once packed, the entire build and crate weighed over 1 tonne, standing more than 2 metres high and nearing 3 metres in length.
Once the machine was securely packed, it was transported to the airport. Given its size and weight, it required a specialist cargo plane, as it was too large for the hold of a standard passenger airliner.

The plane flew to Los Angeles. It was carefully transferred to a lorry and driven to the prestigious HP Discovery event in Las Vegas.

The entire operation demanded coordination and specialist handling at every stage. Our team expedited customs clearance, ensuring no delays were encountered during transit. This was made possible through the valuable work of our back-office team, the hands-on crew in the UK, and our reliable partners across the globe.

The machine was delivered on time and in perfect condition, ready for the show. This project shows how we are more than a standard logistics team. We can manage intricate logistics challenges, providing our clients with peace of mind no matter the requirements and destination.

Racing for 24 hours is a challenge to all those teams at Le-Mans; getting a film onto the screen from an initial idea; takes significant team work and co-ordination for a successful outcome.

Our team have come together to transport and deliver for our clients at Le-Mans, in Cannes, and in Carlisle.

In the past week or so we put into place the required logistics for the moving of a medical healthcare company, specialising in endoscopy procedures, from Carlisle to Kent for a major healthcare company.

Our team also played a crucial role at the Le Mans 24-hour race. For a major client we delivered an interactive experience stand into Le-Mans, ready for this iconic event.

For another client, and with our experienced team on hand, we delivered further support into Cannes ensuring that all items for the client were in place and ready for the event build.

Our experience in working at these high-profile events and with our clients ensured that in this busy week, everything was delivered on time and in perfect condition.

𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆.

In May 2019, I embarked on a 13-day trek to Everest Base Camp (EBC), a journey that would challenge me not only physically but also mentally. This adventure became a metaphor for the mountains of life that we all must climb. My experience on this trek was a testament to my resilience and the power of the mind.

I quickly realised that the mind is a powerful tool. Every day presented new physical challenges, but it was my mental attitude that carried me through.

The trek provided a rare opportunity to reflect. With no mobile phone signal, I was able to be alone with my thoughts, my two walking sticks, and some of the most breath-taking views that nature has to offer.

𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗔𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘆.

I met many incredible and often eccentric fellow trekkers. One unforgettable encounter was my meeting with a 75-year-old Chinese American lady. This was her third trip to EBC after her husband's passing.

Our conversation was interrupted, abruptly, when she exclaimed, "Oh no, not again!" and dashed into the bushes, shouting, in her distinctive accent, "I've got the sh*ts!" Her resilience and humour left an impression upon me.

My journey with my companion felt like a re-enactment of the tortoise and the hare fable. To my surprise, despite my slower pace, I did not suffer from altitude sickness, whilst my more athletic friend did. Each evening, as I reached the tea houses—which was our nightly sanctuary—I was greeted with a surprised comment of, "Mr. Turtle, you made it!" These daily moments were small victories that bolstered my spirit.

𝗟𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱.

This trek taught me many invaluable lessons.

Take life one step at a time: Rarely is the path to success straightforward. Patience and persistence are key.

People with the least material wealth are often the kindest: All the Sherpas and local villagers, despite their humble means, displayed incredible generosity and warmth.

A smile makes friends: Simple acts of kindness and a positive attitude can forge strong connections.

Don’t worry, everything will be alright: In the words of Bob Marley, this mantra became my guiding light.

Reaching Everest Base Camp was more than just a physical achievement; it was a profound personal journey. I discovered strengths that I did not know I had. I learned to navigate the peaks and valleys of both the trail and life.

This life changing trek reminded me that every mountain—whether it be literal or metaphorical—can all be conquered with determination, resilience, and a positive mind-set just like every event we do!

Whilst working in Dubai, I found myself reflecting upon the pressures of the events and logistics industry, and how stress and anxiety appears to be quite prevalent for many whom work within this exciting but pressurised environment.

Here are some of my thoughts.

𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗔𝗻𝘅𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆: 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗺𝘀

Anticipatory anxiety is common, but it is often overlooked within the events industry. This form of anxiety occurs when individuals experience excessive worry or fear about future events, particularly those involving high stakes and significant responsibilities. Event planners, co-ordinators, and stakeholders frequently face anticipatory anxiety due to the pressure of delivering flawless experiences. Understanding and managing this anxiety is crucial for maintaining mental wellbeing.

𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗺𝘀
𝟭. 𝗣𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗺𝘀:
o Increased heart rate and palpitations.
o Excessive sweating in stressful situations.
o Muscle tension causing discomfort.
o Nausea, stomach cramps, or digestive problems.
o Persistent tiredness despite adequate rest.

𝟮. 𝗘𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗺𝘀:
o Overwhelming worry about future events.
o Increased frustration over minor issues.
o Intense fear of mistakes or criticism.
o Inability to relax, leading to agitation.

𝟯. 𝗖𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗺𝘀:
o Struggling to focus on tasks.
o Predominantly negative thoughts about outcomes.
o Imagining worst-case scenarios.

𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗔𝗻𝘅𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆
𝟭. 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴:
o Create comprehensive plans with clear timelines and responsibilities.
o Use checklists to track tasks and progress.
o Develop backup plans for potential issues.

𝟮. 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘅𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀:
o Practice meditation to calm the mind.
o Engage in deep breathing exercises.
o Tense and relax muscle groups to release tension.

𝟯. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁:
o Speak with a therapist or counsellor.
o Join support groups to share experiences.

𝟰. 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀:
o Maintain a balanced diet.
o Regular physical activity to reduce stress.
o Ensure sufficient rest.

𝟱. 𝗖𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀:
o Visualise successful outcomes.
o Challenge and replace irrational thoughts.
o Gradually face the source of anxiety.

𝟲. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁:
o Engage in continuous professional development.
o Seek guidance from experienced professionals.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻
Anticipatory anxiety is a challenge in the events industry but can be managed effectively. Recognising symptoms early, and by using practical planning, relaxation techniques, professional support, and lifestyle adjustments, can all contribute toward the elimination of fear, and mitigate the impact of anxiety. Embracing these strategies will enhance mental health well-being and contribute to successful event ex*****on, thereby creating an events and logistics industry that is composed of individuals who are mentally healthier and more resilient.

📦🚚 We live in a time when life moves at lightning speed. We have fast-food chains with burgers being cooked from frozen to being edible within just 44 seconds; we also have access to on-demand TV and film, with bespoke instant viewing schedules available at our fingertips; music of our favourite artists can be listened to on demand, covering whatever genre we may happen to like; we can consume anything at our convenience, anywhere on the globe.

This instant “pot noodle” based lifestyle can create an expectation that events can be planned and catered for in the same manner, with planning being left until the “lastminute-dot-com”

In reality, the organising of a successful event remains a process that cannot be treated as if it is a fast-food order. Fulfilling an event, takes careful planning and meticulous attention to detail.

From the initial concept, it can take a week or two to collate a proposal. The necessary transportation logistics and information requires gathering to finalise schedules and costs. Time is required for the stand build, which needs the sourcing and shipping of raw materials. This is just the beginning.

Dubai, May 13th - Handdels London is proud to announce the successful shipping of numerous high-value assets from Milan, Italy to Dubai for the prestigious Critical Communication Show.

This operation was full of complex issues. What we achieved highlights the commitment of our team and their ability to provide a precision based reliable service.

After a number of conference calls and emails, our team identified the most cost-effective shipping method for the client's valuable assets. We made the decision to ship the entire consignment under a Carnet. This ensured that import taxes were avoided as the shipment will be returned to Italy after the show.

All of the assets were packed in Milan and flown out to Dubai. Our extensive planning ensured that an expedited customs clearance process was achieved.

The entire shipment was delivered to the show well before the client’s deadline which also exceeded client expectations.

5 years ago today I achieved one of my life goals to trek to Everest Base Camp, EBC. It took 13 days and on day 1 I honestly believed this was a case of I had bitten off more than I could chew! however the mind is more powerful than the body at times & kicked myself up the Ass and pushed through. You look at Everest and believe it's all uphill, ow no lots of going downhill where you then end up going back uphill! It's very hard to write about the emotions you go through however I've shared a few images here where my face says it all. Also it snowed that day which I thought was quite fitting! My take away from EBC was several lessons; take life one step at a time it's not a race, look up and see what's around you and embrace that & finally believe in yourself!

Overcoming Customs, Import Taxes, and a Desert Storm, Handdels London Delivers Spectacular Display at Riyadh Venue.

London, May 2, 2024 - In a remarkable feat of logistics and determination, Handdels London navigated a series of formidable obstacles to transport an F1 car originally belonging to the Williams Team from Dubai to Riyadh, KSA.

The mission, which commenced amidst anticipation and meticulous planning, encountered unexpected challenges along the way. As Handdels prepared to execute the shipment, Dubai was besieged by an unprecedented storm, inundating roads and businesses, and posing an additional hurdle to an already complex operation.

Undeterred by the adverse conditions, The Handdels team embarked on a comprehensive due diligence procedure, ensuring that every contingency was considered. Despite the storm's disruption, the team successfully collected the F1 car and its associated technical equipment from the client's warehouse, just in the nick of time.

With the prized cargo securely crated, the team navigated through the desert, traversing borders and customs checkpoints en-route to Riyadh, covering a staggering distance of 1000 kilometres. The journey, though arduous, was a testament to the team's expertise and commitment to deliver on their promise.

Upon arrival in Riyadh, Handdels London wasted no time in unloading the sizable crate and assisted the tech team in assembling the F1 car with precision and care. The venue's foyer served as the backdrop for a spectacular display, showcasing the pinnacle of automotive engineering to eager spectators.

🚀 Our team at Handdels air-freighted a complete stand from Turkey to Heathrow. This arrived on Sunday. To give an idea of size, one single crate, full of energy efficient batteries from our client, a major innovative electronic power engineering company , weighed in at 260 kilos!

The entire stand and batteries were transported from the airport to the ExCel arena in London.

There was another issue that needed an immediate resolution.

Due to flight and visa issues, the client was delayed and was not there to unpack the kit and stand. True to form, the Handdels team stepped up. Swiftly they unpacked the stand, and managed to locate a forklift truck with a legally qualified operator, to lift and deliver the 260-kilo crate of batteries.

This high level of service meant that the entire stand, complete with the main feature, the weighty batteries, were unpacked and ready for the client’s late arrival who then built their stand in time.

Without the Handdels team, the stand would probably not have been built on time. Plus, Handdels took away the empty crates and will be there, with these crates, ready for the pack down at the end of this prestigious show.
