SAT DEC 21 - CHRISTMAS PARTY AT LGCC: Live Music from The John Knowles Duo

Join us for LGCC's Christmas Party a week Saturday, with music from the 1960s and other eras played by The John Knowles Duo.

Seeing us into Christmas week and starting around 8.30pm, John's guitar duo plays from an extraordinarily wide songbook - guaranteeing a great set that's sure to have something for everyone included.

There'll be plenty of tunes that will get you singing along and dancing in the aisles (well, the clubhouse floor - but you get the idea!).

It'll be another busy pre-Christmas evening at The Green, so please do arrive in good time to secure seats if that's your preference.

As ever, family and friends - drawn from anywhere across our community, not just the membership base - are very welcome, and entry is free to everyone.

Just been told some very sad news by a mutual friend

Sadly Adam Wilkins passed away today.

Many will have fond memories of playing with Wilko at the Green over the years.

Thanks
Dylan

You can bring your own 'Bingo Dabber / Marker' if you wish, but we'll have some for you to use on the night.

FRI OCT 25 - LIVE AT LGCC: Mr Marvel's Magic Show - Especially For The Kids

The widely-renowned Mr Marvel will be bringing his magic show to The Green on Friday October 25, with a nice early start for youngsters of 6.30pm.

The show - set to last roughly 90 minutes - is aimed at those in primary school years - but is sure to wow older kids and parents, too. It might even be good enough to get adults to look up from their phones from the back of the room...albeit momentarily!

There's no charge to come along and enjoy a bit of Friday magic to get kids in the Hallowe'en mood, and the clubhouse bar will be open for parents to take a libation or two while Mr Marvel works his magic!

We're expecting this one to prove really popular. Young club members are welcome to bring a friend along with them as an additional guest.

SAT SEP 14 - SATURDAY SOCIAL: Live Music At LGCC From 'Scratch'

'Scratch' - a covers band spanning the 80s, Britpop and indie genres, who popped & rocked a packed LGCC audience last time they were at The Green - are back again this weekend on Saturday September 14.

The four-piece group will once again play live inside the clubhouse, with members very welcome to bring along family & friends.

As with all the bands the club hosts, the latest you should expect them to start is 9.00pm.

But they're sometimes off & underway a little sooner so it's always worth making 8.30pm your latest arrival time - especially if you're looking to secure seats for your party.

MATCHDAY THREAD - SATURDAY AUGUST 31

With just two weeks of the Herts League season left, a memorable finish is still possible for LGCC's 1st XI.

Sat second in Division One, a win today - at home to table-toppers Reed - and then next week away at Abbots Langley would secure promotion to the Championship division, a first return to that exalted status since 2019.

Meanwhile the 2nd XI must win both of their remaining matches (Sandridge away today, Watford Town at home) to harbour any hopes of avoiding relegation from Division 4A.

In Divisions 9West and 11West, a decent mid-table finish awaits both the 3rd & 4th XIs who continue to perform really well with a mix of senior and junior players in the ranks.

Note: we will serve drinks in plastic cups at all times. It is impossible for us to keep up with demand with glass retrieval and washing. All our bar staff are volunteers, and giving up their time freely to support the club.

With fingers crossed for fair weather ahead, LGCC has its sights set firmly on next week...
