Out on the rooftops tonight in London, shooting backdrops for UK TV. It’s been bloody cold but I absolutely love it, seeing a city change from daylight to night on a night when the visibility is pinging is a total privilege. I always love my job but some days I really love it (apart for sitting stationary on the m25 for an hour oh and the driver who stopped dead on the inside lane of the m4 to work out if they wanted to take that turn or not. Today’s shoot on canon r5 supported by camranger2 and the trusty old gigapan.

Editing skies today, many not as dramatic as this one. For my backdrops I often have to replace existing skies with more suitable ones. A good sky for backdrops is often quite subtle nothing that’s memorable so I often end up shooting skies that others wouldn’t bother with.

The members of Vannar Sangham belong to Vannan community families who were working here since 1720. The Dutch govt. brought the ancestors of this community from different parts of Tamil Nadu and Malabar to Fortkochi for washing the Dutch army’s uniform. The Dutch allotted 13 acre of land and set up around 80 traditional sand bored ponds for the families for washing purpose earlier this place was known by.

When there’s two shots left and all the batteries are looking a bit dodgy then mobile power to the rescue. You can’t always get in somewhere and borrow a plug socket, if you can’t great but I always like to be self sufficient. Out shooting Translights with Canon r5, camranger2 and ecoflow mobile power.

Once again Polecam gets the camera where it needs to be. Coupled with camranger2 it’s such a bombproof system. Shooting Translights for film and TV the shooting position is often critical and polecam can nearly always get you there.

Not much of a sunrise for the Friday swim this morning but every week is different. This morning it was fog but a beautiful calmness over the water. It’s turned very mild again and with no wind even getting dressed was quite pleasant.
