🎥 The secret is out… Earlier this year we hosted Dame Mary Berry and Tom Allen at Greenlands for her new show ‘Mary at 90: A Lifetime of Cooking’.

The programme is a six-part BBC Two series where Mary Berry revisits her career highlights and shares her favorite recipes with special guests. You’ll recognise Henley Business School and the riverside in some of the scenes.

At Greenlands you are spoilt for choice when it comes to planning your ceremony. You can opt to use the main house, the beautiful grounds, or a combination of both!

You can hire the grounds for a marquee wedding or hold your wedding in the main house and use the grounds for your drink’s reception, games, photos etc.

Whatever you decide, our idyllic riverside location paired with the gorgeous grounds offers a picturesque backdrop for your day. Our wedding packages include the hire of the Heyworth for your wedding breakfast and evening party. Our ceremony rooms provide a convenient option for couples who don’t want a traditional church or registry office wedding. By hosting the entire event in one of our dedicated ceremony spaces or outside, your guests can fully immerse themselves in the experience without the hassle of travelling between venues – they can then stay the night in our 100-bed hotel too!

We’re proud to offer indoor and outdoor wedding ceremony options in conjunction with the Buckinghamshire Registration Service and we are fully licensed for the following:

External Wedding:
Wedding for up to 300 on the grand lawn with a marquee.
River frontage for up to 200 with a marquee or 120 without a marquee, utilising the Heyworth Suite in the evening.
Up to 120 guests on the River House lawn using the Heyworth for your evening.

Main House Wedding:
Up to 120 guests in the Garden Common Room
For smaller ceremonies you can have up to 64 guests in the Blue Room or 36 in the library.

The stunning grounds at Greenlands offer an amazing outdoor spot for a riverside wedding, and our license allows us to now host weddings of up to 300 guests for a marquee wedding on the riverside.

Our ground hire fee is £4,166.67 (£5,000 inclusive of VAT) which gives you access to a flat area alongside the river benefiting from complimentary parking and bookable discounted accommodation at our 100-bed hotel. You also benefit from direct access to water and power. Marquees not only look beautiful on our grounds, but they also mean you can invite lots more guests and you have additional flexibility to choose your own catering as we offer the grounds as a dry hire.

Marquee weddings can take place on a Friday or Saturday and your supplier can set up your marquee the day before. Organising a marquee wedding might sound daunting if you’ve never organised a marquee before but work with several suppliers who will create a bespoke package for you, so you don’t have to worry about everything you require separately. Suppliers can also provide you with everything you will need inside too, including the furniture, bar, dance floor, stage, toilets, generator, and a catering tent. Original Marquees can also provide things like flower rings, uplighting, wooden flooring and much more! We are looking for someone with experience in events to join the team as an Event Coordinator to work across our Venue Reading & Venue Henley Teams.

Our core purpose is to balance delivering event support services to our internal customers with generating revenue for the University by selling events space to our external customer base.
The teams pride themselves on delivering excellent events services and facilities. Our teams provide a professional events service offering a wide variety of venues, hosting a range of events including day and residential conferences, celebrations, accommodation and summer schools as well as filming opportunities for TV/Film and Commercials.

The post holder will, with the support and guidance of the Event Manager, generate and supervise the conference, events, and function business (including weddings at Henley). This involves ensuring that all events are developed with optimum efficiency and profitable utilisation of the University’s facilities in harmony with the core academic priorities of the University.
