In Hertford town, where history breathes,
Santa sits on a summer’s eve,
No sleigh or reindeer, just the sun,
In a coffee shop, his day begun.

The bells of churches softly chime,
As Santa savors a rare downtime,
A croissant flaky, golden brown,
And coffee rich, his cares to drown.

His red suit traded for a coat,
Of subtle shades, a relaxed note,
No children’s lists or Christmas calls,
Just quiet murmurs, cafe walls.

The barista smiles, she’s in on it,
Santa’s secret, for just a bit,
A nod, a wink, they share a laugh,
As townsfolk pass on Hertford’s path.

The River Lea flows gently by,
Underneath a pale blue sky,
Santa, hidden in plain sight,
Relishes this daytime light.

No snow, no North Pole icy chill,
Just Hertford’s charm, serene and still,
A moment’s peace, a break from lore,
