Most people will have heard of celebrants ... but not everyone understands exactly what they do, and so here goes…. Simply put a celebrant is a person who performs ceremonies marking some of life's biggest milestones. As well as officiating weddings, celebrants often perform vow renewals, baby naming ceremonies and funerals and celebrations of life. Let's take weddings - when couples think of marrying, two traditional options usually pop into their heads: a religious wedding or a civil ceremony with a registrar either at the Registry Office or a location approved for weddings. This type of wedding combines the legal bit and the ceremony bit. However there is another option - have a celebrant weddings, a celebrant will create a bespoke, meaningful ceremony They do not have to follow templates or 'tick boxes' meaning couples will have complete creative freedom to make their day how they want it to be. For all other life event ceremonies a celebrant can weave together a ceremony to fit the occasion - be it baby naming, or a healing ceremony or to say farewell to a beloved pet.
