London Calling
December 14, 1979

Originally released as a double LP, London Calling was recorded with maverick producer Guy Stevens.

Voted by Rolling Stone as best album of the 1980's, London Calling presented the group's rapidly evolving sound in the aftermath of punk, reflecting their love of reggae, soul, rockabilly, funk, rhythm & blues, as well as channeling their recent experiences touring America.

The US release came a month later, on January 10th 1980.

This is a Kevolution 'special'... A very, very special special actually! The evening starts at 7pm and Kevin's one man show starts at 8... A 90-minute mix of songs, stories, pictures and film clips... with a 20-minute interval halfway...

As well as a 'riveting mix of candid and funny anecdotes and live performance of some of the music he'[s been, erm, instrumental in creating Kevin will be signing and selling CDs and, of course, copies of his terrific autobiography, Absolute Beginner: Memoirs of the world best least-known guitarist.
Then at 10pm-ish it's party time with a mostly Bowie and Iggy-orientated DJ set till midnight.

Kevin Armstrong, for it is he, starts off well and gets the name dropping out of the way before taking us in a two hour walkthrough of his achievements. The list of names he reels off is impressively extensive for he has done the guitar thing for mighty and the meek of the rock world and he duly has much to reflect upon. Despite having spent so long in the shadow of the brightest of stars, he recounts his life in the studio and on the road – also captured in his book “Absolute Beginners – in an unassuming manner allowing the mirror to show, briefly, his own personal history as the anchor that holds him to the ground.
However, the people have come to hear the songs and stories of a time when music mattered and they got what they wanted. Bowie, Iggy Pop and even Morrissey echoed around the room with the audience even joining in..."
