August seems to be vanishing at an alarming rate, and that means it will soon be the First Tuesday of September. On 3rd September, we'll be having our monthly session at the Great Eastern — and everybody's welcome.

Whether you sing, play or simply listen, we'd love to see you for great music, great craic and chip butties. We don't mind what you want to play — as long as it's not karaoke or using autotune, it's fine with us.

We start at 8pm, but you might want to get there early, as it gets crowded quickly. And we finish whenever we run out of steam. Join us for an unforgettable evening.

We're more than halfway through July (how did that happen?) which means we're closing fast on the First Tuesday in August. And that means we'll be gathering in the Great Eastern in Hertford for an evening of great music, random chat and chip butties.

Join us on 6th August at 8pm till whatever time we run out of steam. You're very welcome to bring along your voice, your instrument (or instruments, in John's case), or just a pair of ears, if your prefer to listen.

Though we're a folk session, almost anything is welcome (with the exception of lip-synching and autotune). If you can sing it sitting around in a pub, it's folk.

See you there.

It's nearly the end of June, which means it's nearly the beginning of July. And, since July has a First Tuesday, the next session of the Great Eastern is coming up.

Join us on Tuesday 2nd July for a great evening of music, song and craic. Bring your voice, instrument(s) or just your ears - everyone's welcome, and pretty much anything goes musically. Unless you're using autotune, that is.

We kick off around 8pm and go on till we run out of steam, so come along and join us.

A little late this month, due to indulging to excess in an anti-social habit called work - but tomorrow (Tuesday 4th) is the Great Eastern session.

Bring along your voice, instrument (or instruments, in John's case) or just a pair of ears - everyone's welcome. Any music is welcome, as long as it doesn't involve lip-syncing or autotune.

We usually kick off about 8pm and carry on till we run out of steam, so come early to get a good seat. Or, to put it another way, a seat. see you tomorrow

Apparently everyone else is distracted … but unless I’m mistaken it’s folk night tomorrow!

Yes, for the second month running, the first Tuesday is the day after a Bank Holiday. We're going to have to have a word with whoever plans these things.

Regardless, it's time to gather at the Great Eastern for merriment, mirth and music. Bring along your voice, your instrument(s) or just a pair of ears if you prefer, for a great evening of what we loosely define as folk music.

We get going around 8pm on Tuesday evening and carry on till some point after 11. Come early to make sure you get a good place, and have a great time. See you there.

This Tuesday might be the day after bank holiday, but it's also the First Tuesday of April, and you know what that means.

We'll be gathering at the Great Eastern in Hertford for an evening of music and craic, and you're very welcome. Bring along a voice, a guitar, a fiddle, a squeezebox, a ukelele, a bodhran, a dulcitar, a djembe or simply a pair of ears - all are equally fine.

We start around 8pm and go on till either we or the pub run out of steam. But the place tends to fill up, so it's best to come early to get a seat.

See you Tuesday.

This Tuesday, the 5th, we're back at the Great Eastern pub for another night of music, random talk and chip butties. We had a great time last month, so why not come along to see what's going on?

Whether you play, sing or just want to listen, you'll be extremely welcome.. We have no restrictions on musical style, as long as you can play it sitting around in a pub, so feel free to bring along something unusual. But it's best to get there early - the place tends to fill up quickly.

We start at 8pm and finish whenever we get chucked out, so I hope to see you on Tuesday.

The 6th is the first Tuesday in February, so that means we'll be heading for the Great Eastern to make music (the phrase applies more accurately to some of us than others) and generally have a good time.

Everyone's welcome to sing, play, sing and play, play and sing, play and play... or just to listen. Although it's a folk club, we don't allow the folk police in. If you have something you want to share with us, go ahead.

We kick off at 8pm or a bit after, and keep going till everyone's left or Kevin's thrown us out. See you on Tuesday.

I've no doubt you all spent Christmas carolling and wassailing. No? Well, you can get your festive vocal chords back into shape on Tuesday at the Great Eastern for the 1st First Tuesday Folk Club of 2024.

Whether you prefer to sing, pluck, scrape, blow, bang or push in and out, or just to listen to others doing all the above, you're equally welcome. Proceedings proceed to proceed at 8pm or sometime shortly after, so come early.

All music welcome - carolling and wassailing is strictly voluntary.

It's a new month tomorrow, and we all know what that means. Oh yes, there'll be Christmas, too, but the really important thing is that we have a First Tuesday coming up.

Tuesday 5th December is the last session of the year at the Great Eastern, so let's make it a really good one. Bring along your voices, guitars, fiddles, accordions, ukeleles, dulcitars, djembes, cajons, banjos, didgeridoos... or just your ears, if you prefer.

We'll be starting at some point from 8pm onwards, but the room's getting crowded quickly these days, so the earlier the better. If it goes on like this, people will be camping outside the pub on Monday night.

It's nearly time for the next session at the Great Eastern, just round the corner from Hertford East station. On Tuesday 7th November we'll be gathering in the snug bar to sing and play.

Whether you're a singer, an instrumentalist or both, we'd love to hear you. Any style of music is fine, as long as you play it live sitting around in a pub. Or, if you just want to listen, that's fine too.

We start around 8pm and carry on theoretically till 11, but often well beyond that. Why not drop in and join in the music and the craic?

It's October already (how did that happen?) so this Tuesday (the 3rd) is the Great Eastern First Tuesday Folk Club. We kick off around 8pm and keep going till we're kicked out (nicely). Bring along your instrument, your voice, or just a pair of ears if you prefer, and a splendid time is guaranteed for all.
