Shooting stars are coming!! 🌠 🌠🌠🌠

We are about to experience one of the best meteor showers in YEARS

The peak of the Perseids will be this Sunday/ Monday

In a low light polluted location with clear skies you could see over 100 shooting stars an hour, Late Sunday and early Monday.

Earth is about to move through a dense stream of dust left behind by a 16 mile wide comet called Swift- Tuttle ☄️ , these dust particles burn up in our atmosphere and as a result we experience one of nature’s best ‘fireworks displays’.

Because it coincides with no Moon light interference this will be one of the best in YEARS!

If you miss it on Sunday don’t worry, the peak is forecast late Sunday early Monday however , Sat, Mon, Tues, will also be fairly decent too ☺️

If you can’t get yourself to a low light polluted area, you could still see around 10/15 per hour in moderate light polluted areas. ( Towns etc )

Best times are from 1130pm onwards, as a general guide try and spot them initially from an easterly direction quite low in sky and after 1am look more North and South and directly above, but some will appear from different directions as sporadic meteors.

If you see some bright ones you may notice the colour of them- depending on their composition here’s a cool chart explaining what you may see ☺️

The Perseid Meteor Shower peaks overnight from 12-13 August. 🌠🌠🌠

It's one of most prolific showers of the year with around 💯 meteors per hour at its peak, in perfect conditions.

This coming Saturday we have a whole site closure for a private event.

Friday we will be preparing and Sunday we will be derigging so there will be limited access to some parts of the gardens and woodlands on these days.

Gardens normally open 10am to 5pm with currently very limited plant sales due to the weather.

🚨 Aurora storms update 🚨

I’m sure by now you are aware there will be opportunities to see the aurora over the next few nights, the timings are currently unknown and it’s hoped that the storms will be one after the other and maybe merging together to form a superstorm ( like May 10th) in truth no one knows for sure until it arrives.

I would suggest not to plan anything until it arrives and it also saves you from having to wait for hours and hours wondering when / if it will appear

I will update my aurora posts and channel with as accurate timings as possible to save you having to waste a night waiting for it etc

Fingers crossed for clear skies and some awesome aurora storms
