It’s National Storytelling Week!! 📚

To celebrate over the next few days we’re going to be telling you the captivating stories of the four operas gracing our stage this summer.

Starting off with Donizetti’s most joyous and sparkling opera L’elisir d’amore, Madison Leonard, tells the tale of the poor lovesick Nemorino who falls head over heels for the confident, beautiful, strong willed, Adina.

Huge congratulations to Natalya Romaniw- soprano who makes her role debut as Sieglinde in Die Walküre at the Royal Ballet And Opera in May, stepping in for Lise Davidson who has just announced her pregnancy.

Having delighted Garsington Opera audiences over the years, most recently in the title roles in Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos and Dvořák’s Rusalka, we are thrilled for Natalya. We also send our congratulations to Lise and look forward to seeing her return to the stage in the future.

The Royal Ballet And Opera has just announced a cast change for its upcoming performances of Die Walküre, and we are truly ecstatic to share that Natalya Romaniw- soprano will be making her role debut as Sieglinde! This new production opens May 1 and is directed by Barrie Kosky with Sir Antonio Pappano at the helm of the massive musical forces of the gods and mortals. We wish Lise Davidsen and her family so much joy and good health for her upcoming birth.

And, in the meantime, don't miss Natalya soon at Royal Ballet And Opera when she creates the role of Helena in Festen!

CONDUCTOR / CAST CHANGE

Gérard Korsten is now unable to conduct our 2025 Fidelio. We are pleased to announce that our Artistic Director Douglas Boyd will now conduct this revival of John Cox’s classic production.

We are also delighted to announce that the role of Leonore will now be sung by British soprano, Sally Matthews, who will be making her Garsington Opera debut, taking the place of Jane Archibald who has had to withdraw.
