**Announcement - Mavericks Wales Venue Closure**

Sadly we are announcing the closure of Mavericks Wales and our hospitality division effective immediately. This means all future events are now cancelled and no further events will take place from today.

The workshop division is unaffected and will remain open as we regroup and look forward to a brighter future after a tough three years of Covid-19 lockdowns, Brexit, general elections, Ukraine war and finally escalating costs.

The entire Mavericks team would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone who visited, supported and helped us along the way, it made the experience richer and many strong relationships remain.

Wishing you all a healthy, happy future.

The funeral service for our friend Alan Seddon will be held on Tuesday 27th June, 12pm at St Asaph Crematorium followed by a gathering at the Talardy afterwards for friends and family.

Alan's family have asked his friends to attend the service in bright clothes and classic cars to pay their respects. If you'd like to follow Alan on his final journey from the house in your classic car please arrive at 11am (those who needs details please PM us). Let's give him a great send off, thanks everyone.

In memory of Alan Seddon, a much loved member of our classic car community for over four decades who passed away on Monday peacefully after a long Illness.

Alan had dozens of classic cars over the years and had lots of friends in the area. He'll be sadly missed by us all.

A special mention to his dear friends for their constant vigil, good humour and taking excellent care of his precious cars.

Our thoughts are with his family, if you would like to offer messages of condolence we'll ensure the family see them, thanks all.

Rule Britannia Day - Rescued Rover 45.

Rich brought his trusty Rover over today, a car he cheerfully explained was saved from the scrap yard with a broken gearbox. After parting with a princely £230 for the car, a replacement gearbox was sourced from a donor Peugeot 206 and 'James' was back in business. Rich loves the car and describes the Honda derived chassis as responsive and brilliant to drive.

Rule Britannia Day - The Mighty Model 8 💎

Alan & Denise are long-term local classic car owners (plus a few scooters). Their lovely 1946 Model 8 series E is a delight with a fresh paint job and entirely original engine, chassis, interior and drivetrain. Made from 1938, the Model 8 production spanned the war years, with lots being shipped overseas.

This car is made even more special due to its provenance with original Whitehall registration plate derived from its post-war civil servant owner. Alan explained its a joy to drive and features 100 grease and lubrication points to keep it in good order 👍

Rule Britannia Day - Iconic Astons.

Simon & Lesley arrived today in their simply stunning Aston Martin V8 Vantage, complete with manual gearbox and no driver aids. Simon described the car as a very capable GT car which gets a lot of attention wherever they go.

Rule Britannia Day - Long Term XR3.

Jason & Amanda brought their Ford XR3 over and gave us chance to ask them about owning a cult classic. It's a Flintshire car, supplied new by H&J Davies of Bagillt and has never been out of Flintshire. They've owned her for 25 years and also know the previous owner. The car is used regularly and proudly gets driven around and sometimes washed 😎

Amanda described the car as super comfortable unlike modern cars and we can't see them parting with it soon!

Rule Britannia Day - The Blue JBA Falcon.

Les kindly came over today to show off his rare JBA Falcon, complete with Ford running gear, pinto engine, 5 speed gearbox, spax adjustable suspension and MX5 seats.

As a young man, Les would watch the cars leave the factory in Standish Wigan, now he owns one of his own.

Rule Britannia Day - One Cool Land Rover 😎

Hilary and her husband brought along this lovely vintage series IIA 1969 landy to show today. Have a look at the little history card in the pics, she was stripped and sympathetically restored a few years ago after a long life of service and is still on the original engine and chassis.

**Classic & Sportscar Night Feedback**

Thank you to everyone for the feedback, comments and messages regarding Classic & Sportscar Night changes, we will take everything on board as we move forward.

To help clarify why this change only applies to Tuesdays and cars, it's simply necessary on that particular evening where volumes are much higher, as is waste, space, costs and management, unlike other events. Let us reassure you that it's not a case of greed, nor is it discriminatory. We value every visitor and always have done but we cannot continue to provide all of our services for free.

To those who have decided not to visit in the future, we wish you a safe and positive year ahead enjoying car meets elsewhere.

We'll be open as usual on Tuesday with a £5pp charge on entry (drink included) should you decide to come down and enjoy a safe, peaceful evening on the coast with friends.

When ITV came to Mavericks. Earlier this week we had a visit from ITV Wales to highlight how as a small, community owned business we've bucked the trend and continued to create local jobs, particularly those most in need. We were featured Tuesday on the 6pm news at prime time. There's over thirty of us involved in running and trying to grow the company, including three new apprentices. We employ and provide long-term career opportunities for people with learning difficulties, mental heath conditions and disabilities alongside experienced mentors. We also employ veterans, skilled people who found themselves redundant, retired professionals with lots to offer and over a dozen young people from fourteen to twenty one who are now learning invaluable life skills and growing in confidence.
