Sir Philip Anthony Hopkins, born on 31 December 1937 in Port Talbot, Wales, is a distinguished Welsh actor renowned for his extensive contributions to film and theatre. After graduating from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in 1957, he honed his craft at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. His talent was soon recognised by Sir Laurence Olivier, leading to an invitation to join the Royal National Theatre in 1965.

Hopkins's illustrious film career commenced with notable roles in "The Lion in Winter" (1968) and "A Bridge Too Far" (1977). However, it was his portrayal of Dr. Hannibal Lecter in "The Silence of the Lambs" (1991) that garnered him international acclaim and his first Academy Award for Best Actor. He further showcased his versatility in films such as "The Remains of the Day" (1993), "Nixon" (1995), and "Amistad" (1997), each earning him additional Oscar nominations.

In recognition of his services to drama, Hopkins was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1993. His accolades include two Academy Awards, four BAFTA Awards, and two Primetime Emmy Awards, underscoring his status as one of Britain's most esteemed actors.

Beyond acting, Hopkins is also an accomplished composer and artist. In 2024, he announced that he is penning his autobiography, describing the endeavour as "a weird process." Concurrently, his wife, Stella Arroyave, is producing a documentary about his life, offering an intimate glimpse into his personal and professional journey.

Throughout his career, Sir Anthony Hopkins has continually captivated audiences with his compelling performances, solidifying his legacy in the annals of cinematic and theatrical history.

A big thank you to all who brought their Mums to celebrate Mothering Sunday at Boveys Down Farm.
Thanks must go to the Boveys Down team who helped pull it all together.
It started with breakfast and carried on throughout the day for lunch and cream teas.
When all had quietened down we rounded off having a family zoom with our daughter ,perfect end to a busy day.

Pam made the official special recipe jubilee quiche last night! The ingredients represent the four nations of the United Kingdom. We'll be offering food from 8pm and lighting our official beacon bonfire at 9.45pm tonight - come join us!
