Live Music with Purpose!
The concept for Waste of Space was born by an amalgamation of my joy of live music and passion and experiences of improving lives for local communities. Having worked for over 20 years in management and project development I turned to self-employment in 2012.
Particularly adept at out of the box thinking and with a can-do attitude, I utilised these skills to serve the community in which I lived; a former mining village recognised as an area of disadvantage that lacked soul and community spirit. Through fierce campaigning efforts I entered an agreement with a Local Authority (the first of it’s kind) to develop a community pub in an underused cricket pavilion.
Although small, it’s impact has certainly been mighty. It’s just three years since inception and not only is it the beating heart of the local community, it brings together people from all walks of life and attracts many visitors to the area each year. Why do they travel to this small rural village? For the live music of course!
Due to the input of Richard ‘Stan’ Hallam (he’s the Band Boss, hit him up if you are an artist who would like to support us on our journey) we are now held in high esteem by local artists as we provide a valuable space for grass roots musicians to develop and grow.
