Looking forward to operating our smoothie bike at tomorrow's Bee Friends Open Day at Sheepdrove Organic Farm & Green Events Venue

Sat 31 Aug 2.30pm

Join us for a special monthly Bee Walk at Sheepdrove and the opportunity to tour our bee-friendly market garden, find out about growing courses you can take and buy plants and produce.

Refreshments will be provided and you can bring your own picnic (but no dogs please).

Pedal your own refreshing smoothie from pollinator dependent fruit on our smoothie bike. Did you know that we depend on pollinators for successful crops of over 130 fruits and vegetables? Even dairy and meat production relies on pollinators as legumes such as clovers, beans and vetches that provide high quality grazing also require pollination.

You’ll also be able to purchase fresh produce and plants grown in our teaching and demonstration market garden as well as learn about the horticultural courses that take place there – some of them fully or partially funded for local residents.

Bee Walks are a national recording scheme run by the Bumblebee Conservation Trust (BCT) to monitor the abundance of bumblebees on transects (paths along which one counts and records occurrences of the objects of study) across the country. These transects would be impossible without volunteers, who identify and count the bumblebees they see on a monthly walk along a set route from March to October.

Please RSVP to [email protected] with the subject: Attn Rosie re BeeWalk

The Wellbeing Corner at the market tomorrow, run by West Berkshire Injury Clinic is focusing on medical tattos and how powerful they are at helping people cope with their scars and prosthetics. Do pop by to chat to the tattoo artist, Carrie Buckley Tattoos

On Sunday, we are excited to welcome Carrie Buckley Tattoos to the health and wellbeing corner and the Hungerford Food and Artisan Fayre. Carrie will be showcasing her incredible work in using tattoos to cover scars, along with her efforts in tattooing prosthetics and helping individuals using tattoos for wellbeing.

But why are we, as a clinic, promoting this from a wellbeing perspective?

What truly matters is that people feel good about themselves and find ways to move forward in their lives. This significantly contributes to their overall wellbeing and happiness. For women who have undergone mastectomies, breast reconstruction may not always be an option for various reasons. In such cases, covering the scar with meaningful/colourful artwork can bring immense joy and positivity. The same applies to those with C-section scars or individuals, both male and female, who have scars from accidents.

As a clinic, our goal is always to help people become the best version of themselves, to feel happy and content. We work with patients suffering from cancer and recovering from injuries, and what’s most important to us is their sense of contentment. If we can contribute to improving their wellbeing, that’s fantastic.

However, we are only one part of a larger team. This team can include consultants, practice nurses, physiotherapists, tattoo artists, and many others who play a role in supporting each individual on their journey to recovery and wellbeing.

Looking forward to having Great British Mead Company back at our next market this Sunday 11 Aug 10 - 1, Croft Field RG17 0HY

Happy International Mead Day! 🥂
We’ve recently revamped our labels (thanks ) to add some gold detail and simplify or personalise the content descriptions.
We’ve also taken the opportunity to rename our traditional mead as pure honey mead too!
Simple. Pure. Clear. No misunderstanding!
So these two are my meads for the day. Whatever your choice, cheers, wæs hæl, skäl, bottoms up and down the hatch.
