Wedding receptions can at last begin to take place for 20 people from Monday 14th September, provided they happen in a Covid-secure way in regulated venues, with strict guidance.

My heart goes out to all the brides who have had to cancel/postpone. All appointments/bookings will be moved with absolutely no financial implication once everything has settled down. After the recent sad news of Caroline Flack’s passing, the girls at Meraki have not been able to stop thinking about the impact negativity can have on a person, and that a simple act of kindness can do wonders for someone - however large or small.

So together, we have decided to do a small gesture to lift someones day, even if it’s in the slightest way. So Sarah W, Kelsey, Suzi, Sophie, Jordan, Diane, Jo, Sara M and Erin have all decided to gift a treatment to someone who may not be having the best time, and you feel deserves a ‘pick me up’ by coming into the salon for a blowdry + style, and/or either having your nails done, henna brows or makeup. Because there are a few of us available, there will be a number of appointments we will be giving away.

However; because this is a more sensitive subject, we hope you understand we will not be announcing winners. We simply ask everyone to like, share and tag in the comment section who you feel is deserving of a bit of pampering to lift their spirits, and we kindly ask you don’t comment why they deserve it as the reason why is always personal which we understand - and hope you trust that we are using a fair way of deciding winners (which will still be chosen by an online generator) - but we will be contacting winners privately. We look forward to welcoming our nominees into Meraki for a much deserved relaxing time, and pamper 🖤

Last week we had a wild week here at without a Hitch and I just wanted to take a little time out to acknowledge.
We are devastated by the closure of the Hilton Treetops and the fallout for all those affected, the couples, the functions, proms, weddings, shows and ourselves included.
We worked closely with the hotel and unfortunately also a victim of its closure & at the forefront having to change our Wedding Showcase last Sunday on a very short timescale to another location.
With what should have been an easy week planned, the news hit, and I won’t lie to you all I felt physically sick - as I kicked into overdrive things began to come together, the thought of telling 50+ suppliers the news gave me fear, trying to spread the word gave me the fear!
Then something quite amazing happened, a community I had almost lost faith in, an industry where tearing each other down is so common, where everything is a competition, all came together! We came together to make the absolute best of a bad situation, we came together for the suppliers and for the brides.
Scottish Wedding Directory Grampian Wedding Directory , Aberdeen Guardian, to each and every supplier who moved venues with us, who showed understanding, support and offering to lend a hand, who all took to social media to spread the word, even those not affected or involved in the event reached out and helped us. To the DoubleTree by Hilton Aberdeen City Centre for bending over backwards, stepping in and helping us make the event a success, to those that I turned to when I couldn’t see it all working and those who got stuck in as we say and helped on Sunday and mostly to the lovely couples who came along - THANK YOU!
But it’s bigger than a simple thank you for making an event successful, in light of other events this week, it’s about being KIND - we stood up, we came together, this week we have supported couples devastated by the Treetops news, supported each other and we have been KIND!
You never know what someone is going through - this last week has been tough, it’s been busy - I’m a mum, my children still needed me. I couldn’t just stop! I heard horrible comments, I heard of laughing, I heard of people taking delight in the downfall of others but for what - to make themselves feel better?
So support each other, there’s enough work to go round - it’s not always a competition. Be kind because you do not know what someone else is going through!
In the words of the beautiful Caroline Flack - “In a world where you can be anything be Kind!” X

Devastated on behalf of those of you who had a wedding booked and those now without jobs as we come to terms with the sudden closure of the DoubleTree by Hilton Aberdeen Treetops.

Fortunately, instances like this are few and far between and it's truly heartwarming to see other local venues doing their best to help those at a loose end 🥰
