As Neurodiversity Celebration week comes to an end. I want to share that all 3 of our Horror Con venues have a relaxed space this year. Should you ever feel overwhelmed by the event or simply need a moment to unwind, we invite you to visit these areas. Full event guides/maps will be sent to all attendees in advance, and clearly signposted on the day.

This is year 3 of Horror Con Scotland. We've gone from the top floor of a pub, to a hotel, a ballroom and now to the SEC where there is loads more room for growth and the hopes of this possibly becoming a 2 day event. As well as year 2 of Dundee and year 1 of Inverness.
Please remember that this event is run by one person (and not a rich person) or not a big company. I'm taking on a lot of financial risk this year, but I really beleive that this can be something great for the horror fans of Scotland.
As previously advised, this is not a "guest" only convention. Whilst we will have guests, we also want to give spotlight to film makers, prop and costume makers, authors, artists, crafters and other people working across all areas of the horror industry in Scotland.
I'm all for working together - not against other companies.

I am the Highland Hag, the mystical guardian of Northern Frights, a realm of wonder and enchantment nestled in the heart of Aberdeen. For eons, I've woven spells of joy and connection, bringing to life events that sparkle with the magic of community and shared experiences.
Alas, a wicked storm, as fierce and untamed as a dragon's wrath, swept through our lands, leaving chaos and despair in its wake. My cauldrons of fun and festivities were overturned, and my potions of prosperity spilled and wasted.
The Calamity at Hand:
Despite my most potent spells, the storm raged on, and our grand gathering was ravaged. Entertainers vanished into the tempest, patrons were scattered to the winds, and my treasure trove of gold and glimmer was depleted.
For more than a full turn of the seasons, I had been brewing and concocting for this fateful day, only to see it crumble like a castle of cards in a gust of wind. My heart, as ancient and withered as it may be, ached for those who braved the storm and stood by my side.
A Call to the Brave and the Bold:
Now, I turn to you, brave souls and kindred spirits, to lend your aid in our hour of need. Northern Frights, a sanctuary of dreams and delights, is on the brink of vanishing into the mists of time. We require golden coins to mend whatโs broken and ensure our realm stays alive and thriving.

In the whimsical town of Clockwork, young Miss Laura, who was just 33, stumbled upon a colourful book with shimmering letters spelling "ADHD." With wide-eyed wonder, Laura realised she wasnโt under a mischievous spriteโs spell but had a unique mind that danced to its own tune. This discovery was like a magical key, opening doors to places she'd never dreamt of after being trapped in the grey tower of 9-to-5 for 14 very long years.
Away from the tower's endless drone about thingamajigs called valves, Laura's new world was bursting with stories of brave knights, enchanted forests, and mystical creatures from horror and fantasy tales. Every morning was the start of a new chapter, and every evening, a cliffhanger that promised more adventures.
On nights when the stars twinkled the brightest, Laura, would wonder aloud to her owl mate, Whoots: "Is it my newfound magical potions, or simply not hearing about those tiresome valves, that makes me not so sad every day?" Her journey, though sprinkled with fairy dust, had its challenges. Eager to spread the magic, she crafted tales and dreams to enchant the streets of Aberdeen. But instead of finding gleaming fairy coins in her coffers, she discovered her treasure chest a bit lighter, her enchanted tales often met with nothing more than polite nods.
But Laura sensed a unique truth: those infused with the spark of ADHD, much like her, carried dreams as vast as the night sky and had the heart to chase them fiercely. Although Aberdeen might not have embraced her tales with open arms, she held steadfast in her belief that somewhere, a place or people yearned for the magic she had to share.
As ADHD Awareness Month blossoms under the embrace of cheerful October winds, let's toast to the dreamers, the storytellers, and every spirited soul that, regardless of the twists and turns, discovers joy, magic, and endless possibilities in life's grand adventure. Here's to brighter chapters and enchanted horizons ahead!

Hey everyone!
I wanted to take a moment to introduce you to the heart and soul behind Horror Con Scotland - that's me - Laura, the one-person show running Northern Frights. ๐
Based in beautiful Aberdeenshire, Northern Frights started out as a passion project, scaring folks at events for 6 incredible years. Then, well, lockdown happened, and I thought those eerie doors had closed for good.
But life had other plans! After a 14-year career in the oil industry, (some might call it madness) I decided to dive headfirst into the world of full-time event planning, specialising in horror and fantasy. That's right, we've even grown into a separate entity, "Fantasy Scotland." ๐งโโ๏ธ๐งโโ๏ธ
From children's wizard schools to zombie survival training, murder mysteries to escape rooms, and the over 18's horror camp, we've conjured up it all. Not to mention the Vampire Ball, horror festivals, fantasy extravaganzas, and our beloved Fantasy Convention. ๐งโโ๏ธ๐
I'm absolutely thrilled with how far we've come. I used to travel far and wide for these kinds of events, feeling like Scotland was missing out. But not anymore!
Over the past year, this little company has grown faster than I ever imagined (so has my debt, but that's a different story). We've teamed up with incredible venues, fantastic partners, and some of the most talented people out there. And we're just getting started!
I might not have the budget of those giant corporations, and let's be honest, some days I break into a cold sweat looking at the expenses. But I have unshakable faith in this business. And who knows, one day, not too far from now, I might be able to let go of those part-time bill-paying gigs and start hiring more awesome people.
With a legion of dragons and monsters at our side, and Horror Con's growth from a humble pub gathering to gracing the grand stage of the SEC, I can't wait to see where we'll be in a few more years. The adventure is just beginning, and you're all a part of it! ๐ฒ๐ป
