Good Afternoon All,

On behalf of the Rothienorman Hall Committee we wanted to let all villagers know that there is a planned closure of the hall from Monday 7th October for 2 weeks.

RHC feel it is necessary to close the hall in order to carry out the planned toilet upgrades in a safe manner.

All current user groups have been informed but we wanted to publish this news to let everyone know incase they had any intentions of hiring the hall within this period.

If you have any comments/queries/concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

WOW!!

THANK YOU so much to all who have booked a space for the critter keeper.
Unfortunately there is only 30 spaces and we have had 48 individual space requests.

BUT.... if we can get another 12 spaces filled then there is an opportunity of doing another session at 3.30pm on the 31st July!

For those who were a little later in booking spaces we have automatically put your name down for a space on the 31st. Once we have filled the session on the 31st we will be in contact to confirm which date you have managed to claim.

So there is now 12 spaces available on the 31st of July @ 3.30pm for £5 per child. We need to fill these spaces for the session for go ahead.

So again.... contact
[email protected] to secure a space
'Quote critter keepr' and please provide the name(s) of the children who would like to attend and also the name of the responsible adult.

We, the Rothienorman Hall Committee, wish to provide you all with a status update on your local village hall:

Firstly, some things that some of you may not be aware of:
1. The hall is owned by the people of Rothienorman village and community.
2. The hall is operated by a committee of volunteers and is in no way funded or supported by the local council (some of the user groups were). This seems to be a misconception that members of the community commonly hold.
3. The hall is reliant upon income from the various user groups and event bookings to meet the on-going cost of operation.
4. Since the pandemic and the associated reduction of user groups and bookings, the hall has been operating at a loss. This had been recently recovering slightly, towards a break-even situation.
5. As things stand, this limits the possibility of any developments for the future.

Secondly, a more recent update:
6. The one remaining “core” user group, the Pre-School, has lost its committee and council funding and has therefore ceased to operate as of two weeks ago.
7. This represents a major financial blow to the hall committee, meaning that without some other income to backfill, the hall will operate at a significant loss moving forward.
8. We are open to suggestions from the community as to what this might be.

Thirdly, on the committee itself:
9. The hall has been operating mostly with only the efforts of the officers for some years now.
10. Various improvements have been made to streamline the operations and make the hall easier to operate.
11. The individuals involved have done this for several years now in the face of dwindling support and input from other parts of the community.
12. All are now intending to step down from the committee and pass these responsibilities on to others.

We plan to have an AGM in November and if a new committee cannot be formed then the hall may no longer be able to operate.

Do you know that Rothienorman Village Hall is owned by the residents of Rothienorman and manged by local volunteers?

The Hall has been home to many groups over the years and still provides a home to the local preschool, table tennis club, indoor bowls, toddlers, karate to name a few! Without this resource all of the clubs/groups would have no home and would be a great loss to our community.

The hall committee are looking for eager volunteers for roles on the committee to help continue the great work done over the years and to further enhance the facilities for years to come.

If you are interested please drop us a message, an hour or so a month can make a difference to your community 😊
