Why not come and support our open gardens for the NGS this Sunday?

As I’m sure you can agree, they are looking at their best, and in aid of such a great cause how can one refuse.

With the weather set to be like today (a bit iffy!) it’s just an even greater reason to come out and enjoy the most of the weekend.

will be open serving hot and cold drinks, cake and light snacks and our fully licensed bar will be open.

We can’t wait to welcome all of you, and share the very best of our gardens for such a worthy cause!

🎭 SUNDAY! 🎭

Don’t forget Quantum Theatre’s production of Great Expectations is happening here at 4pm! You still have time to purchase tickets and join us. At least the weather is looking warm! 🌞 Tickets can be purchased on Quantum Theatre’s website quantumtheatre.co.uk and the link will be in our story.

For this production we welcome you bringing your own food and snacks as the cafe won’t be open serving food. However, all drinks - alcoholic or otherwise - must be purchased at our bar.

We will also have a lovely selection of Simply Ice Cream ice creams available during the interval!

It’s set to be another fantastic afternoon, so make sure not to miss out!

This BEAUTY ‘Treasure Trove’ is definitely the highlight of the garden this week! Flowering just once a year, its cascades of perfectly scented blooms are to behold and enjoy for the all too brief time it wows us with its spellbinding performance.

On a day as lovely as this, why not come and have some lunch, enjoy the magnificence of the hall and experience this belle for yourself. 🌹

We are looking for a Chef as a key member of our kitchen team. The role could either be full or part time, but it is essential that Saturdays are part of the working arrangement. Martha’s Barn is open most Saturdays, but is closed during Saturday wedding events. On those wedding Saturdays, it would be the choice of the successful candidate as to whether or not they work as part of the weddings team, albeit likely not in a chefing capacity on those days. It would also be helpful, but not essential, if the successful candidate is able to work on Thursday evenings.

Key responsibilities would also include:
• helping our Head Chef to create regularly changing, seasonal menus;
• assisting with the food preparation process, including overseeing the dishes that leave the kitchen to customers;
• assisting with the day-to-day operations of the kitchen;
• determining food inventory needs and reordering food supplies;
• shared responsibility for ensuring the kitchen meets all regulations, including food safety and hygiene practices; and
• maintaining good relationships with suppliers for the café.

Schedule:
• Any or all of Tuesdays through Fridays (not Mondays)
• Saturdays essentially
• Thursdays evenings desirable

Requirements:
• Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate (or ability to promptly renew)
• At least 2 years’ experience of working in a commercial kitchen

We are seeking a chef with a passion for cooking, who takes pride in excellent delivery and customer service.

Compensation:
• Competitive hourly rate, subject to experience
• Share of tips
