Happ smiles all round this morning at our festive Funky Flowers Wreath making. Using natural, sustainable moss and spruce bases with thanks to Minstrels nursery. These were decorated with scented cinammon spice and dried fruits of orange, apple, lotus head. Natural foilage of holly and ivy berry. As always, everyone is amazed how the same ingredients used by different people produce different creative results!

So delighted to create vibrant Autumn flowers for the Wedding of Gill and Dave on Saturday and to participate in their happy day. Bolton Abbey village hall was full of Autumn colour and texture with Physalis, Eryngium, fireflash roses, echinacea, poppy heads, cotinus and clematis. A wonderful day with more adventures to come!

So pleased to resume Funky Flowers workshops this morning at Glusburn Arts Centre. Lovely to see familiar faces and meet new ones, an enjoyable, sociable time. I'm always amazed and delighted at the same ingredients which produce so many different arrangements dependant on individual creativity. Late Summer transition to Autumn using roses, delphinium, helenium, amaranthus, poppy seed heads, rosehips. Join us next time on 9th October!

Summer borders, eryngium, haze of purple geranium and foxy gloves. Attracting lots of happy bees. The garden is peaceful and rewarding and now I am looking forward to resuming flower classes in September. I have missed our lovely group so much not to mention creating beautiful arrangements. Birthday flowers in soft colours from my lovely husband, stocks roses and ranunculus. The second of lockdown Birthdays but hopefully no more. Spring is definitely in the air and blossom begins to bloom. Looking forward to creating more floral beauties in Funky Flowers workshops this year.

A year of loss and hope. Kindness and creativity. When I trained as a florist I always remember this -'if you have but one guilder in your pocket, buy bread for your body and a hyacinth for your soul'
Flowers and nature sustain us. Thank you to everyone for attending Funky Flowers Workshops when we were able to hold them and I will be in touch as soon as it is possible to hold more in the New Year.

Scents of Christmas, fruits, spice, spruce whilst creating bespoke door wreaths. Thanks to all our Workshop group who, despite being unable to hold the class, so disappointing at the last minute; all took Wreath ingredients home to create there. I am looking forward to receiving more pics and to more classes in the New Year.

Creating cheery jam jar posies on a dreary afternoon as small gifts. Foraged finds, valient flowering calendula and slight seasonal texture of larch cones. Keep fingers crossed that our Natural wreath Workshops at Glusburn Community centre will go ahead on 5th December. I'm really looking forward to that.

Feeling rather flat than Funky this evening since I am now unable to run our Workshop on Saturday. All the plans were made and fab flowers just about to be ordered. I am optimistic that our natural wreath workshops will go ahead in early December with fruits, spice and seasonal foliage. The first one is Saturday 5th December 10am til 12 at Glusburn Arts Centre. Thank you so much to those who have already booked. Keep safe and warm and when the sun returns forage in the hedgerow and create something lovely.

The seasons change, nights draw in making us appreciate cosy homes and our surroundings. Fortunate to live in a beautiful place with inspiration from nature all round, I am so pleased to continue Funky Flowers Workshops. Our next one takes place on Saturday November 7th at Glusburn Arts Centre followed by December wreath Workshops. Our first on 6th December. Saturday morning 10 til 12. At last we resumed Funky Flowers Workshops this morning at Glusburn Community and Arts Centre. Great to see everyone and create textured Autumn sunset arrangements. We used iconic roses, salmon chrysanthemum, velvet amaranthus, hypericum, hydrangea, astrantia and foliage of oak, populus and burnished bracken. More dates in November and seasonal wreaths in December. 🍁

September, "cool dewy morning, blue sky at noon, white mist at evening and large yellow moon" from the Songs of the Flower Fairies.
Deep rich dahlias from our local nursery and hedgerow foraging. Faffing with flowers since our Funky Flowers Workshops won't resume until October but pleasure in creating.

Floral inspiration today from a painter's palette of colour and wild, natural planting in the new sun border. The sun even made an appearance. 2020 is apparently the year of the rudbeckia which is available in gorgeous shades but I love the rich texture of it's seed head. In my own small cutting patch, I love scented purples. The phlox is gorgeous. Looking forward to seeing you all soon for creative Funky Flowers.

Wild bunch of local blooms from my own small cutting garden, scented and loved by bees. Calendula, lavender, nepeta, cranesbill, verbena. I'm looking forward to being able to resume Funky Flowers Workshops but this will now be September. I have missed you!

Jam jar posies, small portable treats filled with summery blooms, many local and British. This is British flower week. Support your local, florist many just allowed to re-open. I love the scented mix of love-in-a-mist, sweet william, nigella, mint, larkspur.

Remembering happy Summer workshops when we created gorgeous flower crowns and everyone wore them out to lunch! I love flower crowns and hope we will be creating more hearts and crowns before too long. Until then, enjoy the beautiful Spring unfolding everywhere and keep well. 😍

My flowery project today is a spring heart, inspired by gorgeous blossom on walks from home. A base of willow and ivy with blackthorn, muscari, hyacinth. Something creative and might cheer people walking down the lane! Flower ladies you might already have a base to work with from our workshops and willow is very pliable!

Missing Flower Workshops, people and flowers! But Spring is blossoming so foraging for a creation and lots of time to faff. The blackthorn creates small airy blooms and black ivy berry with garden flowers contrast.

Gorgeous roccoco parrott tulips and garden spring blooms. I'm sad that we cannot hold our Funky Flowers workshop as planned tomorrow but spring flowers and new growth abound. I hope you are all safe and well and look forward to seeing you soon for more flowery creations.

Pastel tulips and vase of Spring. Flowers still inspire and lift our spirits despite the challenging times. I was so looking forward to a Spring workshop on 28th March but sadly this can no longer take place. Thanks to everyone who booked and we will resume Funky Flowers as soon as we can.

Defying more storms we had a wonderful creative morning workshop. Designing with Funky Flowers to create hand tied bouquets using English tulips, garden roses offset by deep dark ranunculus and red velvet scabious. Gorgeous!

Inspired by Winter skies in gorgeous shades of pink, this morning we created scented, uplifting arrangements with roses, creme caramel dianthus, hypericum and broom. Offset by burnished bracken and ivy berry. Thank you to all for attending, next time leaen new skills in hand tied bouquets. 29th February. Details will follow soon!
