Although it was a relatively quiet first week of February for the Thursday Pub Quiz at The Compass for Macmillan Cancer Support, we still had 10 good-sized teams to help keep the numbers of players looking good.

For Round One, 3 teams opted to play their Joker cards for 'This Week In History' and "Agatha Quiztee" and "The Clan" took full advantage, BOTH scoring a maximum 20 points, to claim 2 Bonus Points as well.

We tried something a bit different for the Word Puzzle Round this week, with our teams trying to get the better of a 10-word 'Word Ladder'. This proved a tricky one, with "Universally Challenged" scoring best with 8 points.

The 'Multiple Choice General Knowledge' round saw "Balds & Blondes" score an emphatic win in the round with 20 points thanks to their Joker, plus 2 Bonus Points. "Tequila Mockingbird" also carded a 'perfect 10' in this round to get 2 Bonus Points of their own.

The topic for the Picture Round this week was 'Comics' (the stand-up variety, not the printed one!). LOADS of Jokers played in this round, with three of the teams scoring 18 points. Despite "Balds & Blondes" getting a perfect score for the second consecutive night (getting them another 2 Bonus Points"), "Universally Challenged" trumped them all, with 20/20 to bag 2 Bonus Points of their own!

The Themed Round this week was '20th and 21st Century Inventions' and "The Bridies" and "The Clan" shared this round with 8 points apiece.

The Snowball Jackpot for 'Total Wipeout' was back down at £10 this week, but despite their best efforts, no-one won the money this week, with only two teams scoring zero.

Our Final Round saw four teams correctly identify Van Morrison as the mystery guest on the first clue, but it was "Harbour Lights" who were drawn out to win the £20 for the round.

Overall though, "The Clan" just edged it on the night, winning the £25 Greene King Brewery Gift Card with a total score of 76 points, just 2 points ahead of "Agatha Quiztee", "Tequila Mockingbird" and "The Bridies".
