Currently we are checking daily for the sector government specific guidelines on how we can open from 4th July. Whatever they are there will be a phased reopening and a more limited service.

19/06/2020

We are currently risk assessing the centre in anticipation of the government deciding if community centres can reopen from the 4th July. Even if we can open from this date it maybe the case that there will be a delay whilst we put changes into effect. We will keep you posted. The Sedgwick Room will also be closed for hire to the public on reopening.

24/03/2020

Due to the current Covid-19 outbreak and inline with Government
guidelines the centre is now closed until further notice. We hope to see you all again soon. Stay Well/

We have had a couple of months with just normal things happening but May has different things to offer. On Sunday 20th May we have at least two baptisms - this is something that needs to be experienced so you would be welcome to drop in, starting at 4pm. At the end of that week we have AGOM (A Game of Might) taking over the Centre again. If this is your thing I'm sure you would be made welcome. Maybe there is something you could use the Shakespeare Centre for, send me an email and we will see how we can help. We look forward to hearing from you.

We have had a busy couple of months at the Shakespeare Centre here in Kendal. The Pilates class has continued, despite the challenging weather, Slimming World has continued to meet twice on a Tuesday, Diddi Dance have had the little ones trekking through the snow to enjoy their time together. We also welcomed a team from Transport for the North who were holding a public consultation event. The big weekend in January was the AGOM event - A Gathering of Might. Once a quarter, they take over the whole Centre, and create an atmosphere that enhances the whole event. The Comic Arts Festival planners have been to check the Centre as they look towards their event in October. Our downstairs room, which has a serving hatch to the kitchen continues to be used by a local group, cooking food & then serving and eating it, a great experience for those involved.
This gives you an idea of the versatility of the Shakespeare Centre. If you are looking for a venue for a meeting, training, party, or church away days, contact me and we will fit you in!

We have just had a group in from the Manchester area who have made use of every corner of the Centre. They used the downstairs lobby for registration, the King's Room for their presentation and the Sedgwick Room for displays and children's entertainment. The kitchen was in full operation too, making the essential cups of tea.
Maybe you could make use of this venue too?
