Our last wedding of 2024 was this lovely one at the Ro Hotel Hotel in Bowness. Our white and greenery range decorating the beautiful bay window, aisle and mantelpiece. These are really versatile pieces and can be used to decorate stairs, gazebos and anywhere that needs a bit of extra dressing!

Happy New Year! We hope you have all had an enjoyable and restorative festive break. We're looking forward to some more awesome weddings in 2025! But for now we're enjoying the last few family days off before our children return to school. Not least because the sun has finally come out!

Our Story

We are a creative wedding and event venue styling company based in Kendal, Cumbria, serving the beautiful Lake District, Lancashire and the North West. Purple Swan was formed in 2009 by Carla and Francis, and later joined by Catherine in 2012. Trained in 'Set Design for Film, TV and Theatre', Carla had worked in the theatre and film industry for over 10 years. Having spent time in London working long hours on film sets, including 'Harry Potter' and 'Nine', she and Francis moved to the Lake District in search of a more relaxed life. Here the perfect opportunity arose to start 'Purple Swan'. Returning to his native Northern pastures, Francis has been running a successful web design company for 7 years. He has used his extensive business and marketing expertise to help promote 'Purple Swan' to the successful company that it has become, as well as tying the odd bow! Our daughter Isla was born in 2012 and 'Granny' moved up to Kendal to join the team. Also known as Catherine, she is an experienced seamstress and a brilliant baker / cake decorator among many other things, and is a huge asset to 'Purple Swan'. Our son Flynn was born in 2016. In 2014 we moved the business out of our home and in to our wedding studio in Kendal - a big but exciting step! It’s fantastic now having the space to set up table designs to show future brides and grooms their ideas, display a range of chair covers as well as all the other decorative items that enhance a wedding.

We absolutely love our work and all the wonderful people we get to meet along the way!
