Our events are designed to pit participants against the challenges posed by the natural mountain environment. Participants will often find themselves in some of the wildest, remotest and most beautiful landscapes that the UK offers. This includes some of the most serious and challenging mountain environments, where the onus is always on the participant to use their skills, experience and judgement
to remain safe. Above all, we strive to make each event highly credible, authentic, and inspirational.

Kendal Mountain Festival Adidas Terrex Trail Run entries are OPEN!
It's a highlight of the festival weekend where runners descend on the local fells taking in views from the iconic Scout Scar and Cunswick Scar.
The race starts in the town and heads directly up Beast Banks (a wonderful leg warmer) before a finish back in the town centre where the buzz from the festival continues!

The countdown is on for the National Running Show 2024!
We are SO excited to share with you we will be at The National Running Show next weekend! We will have a stand with members from the Ourea Team who will be there both days, Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st January.

It is with profound sorrow that we share the news of the passing of Edward Catmur.
He was found deceased near Dufton in the Pennines on Sunday, January 1st, after he didn't return from his run the previous day. Edward had embarked on a long run a route to Cross Fell and Hartside Cross. When he didn’t return, authorities were alerted, leading to an extensive overnight search by Mountain Rescue.
Edward was a skilled orienteer, mountain, and ultra-runner known for participating in challenging races like the Dragon’s Back Race, Lakes Traverse and The Spine. He often graced the podium in both domestic and international races – he was a highly competent and experienced runner.
This unfortunate incident mirrors the loss of Chris Smith, another talented runner and GB International, who succumbed to hypothermia in October 2020 in the Scottish mountains.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to Edward’s family and friends, many of whom are part of our running community. Edward finished 4th in our 100km Lakes Traverse in 2022. He was a respected figure among fellow runners and popular with our Event Team.
We urge our extended community of runners who enjoy running in the mountains and remote areas to remember the unforgiving nature of these environments. While details of Edward’s gear and the specific circumstances of his death are unknown, we would like to remind everyone to wear (or take) the appropriate clothing and equipment for the winter months. This should include, as a minimum:
Waterproof Jacket and Trousers
Hat and Gloves
Mobile phone
Map and Compass
Spare insulated layer
Headtorch
Survival bag
Please take care whilst you enjoy running in the mountains and moors of the UK.
A body has been recovered during the search for missing fell runner, Edward Catmur.
Edward, from the London area, had been reported missing after he was not heard from since 10am yesterday (31 Dec). He had been intending to fell run a route to Cross Fell and Hartside Cross, from Dufton.
The body of a man was recovered earlier today (1 Jan) in the Cross Fell area.
Edward’s family has been informed of developments.
Cumbria Police would like to thank Penrith Mountain Rescue Team colleagues who spent long hours both last night and today leading the search effort.
