My golly this storm is a brutal one! Please bring your wreath indoors during this turbulent time until calmer times begin again. Keep it somewhere cool inside (a garage is perfect) and see it as an opportunity to sit it in some water and give it some TLC.

Thank you for all you do for Lily Loves - crazy ideas, chief organiser, newsletter writer, soup maker and top florist. There is no better way to learn how to do this other than ‘on the job’ and you’ve proved yourself to be a top florist with a mass of skills. Any floral business would be lucky to have you on their team (not that you’re allowed to leave)!

We prop each other up nicely and are different in many ways but it seems to work well - the yang to my yin!

Looking forward to spending some non work time together in the new year (we are now truly broken)!

I’ve recently looked after my dad here providing respite care for 3 weeks. He buys lottery tickets, sadly the euro millions weren’t ours this time. He asked me yesterday on the phone if I’d gone and bought another ticket for the kids with the money he left. ‘No’ was the answer (given that having the time to go to the toilet seems a privilege at the moment, that’s not surprising)!

So the conversation went as follows:

Me ~ ‘I’ll go get one this week Dad, then perhaps I won’t have to bundle 120 bunches of pine on my knees outside in the cold’

Dad ~ ‘I suspect you’d still be doing that anyway’.

And he’s right. I’d still do it, because I truly love what I do. Don’t get me wrong, the volume and pressure would surely change but I feel very lucky that I’d choose this passion again. How many others would say the same? Very grateful and very thankful to have found my love and path in life.

It wasn’t always like this and it’s never too late to change. It’s a lot of hard work, determination, tenacity and drive but I wouldn’t change it.

Happy Sunday all - and thank you SO much for all your Christmas orders so far (it’s keeping me outside on my hands and knees in the cold nicely)! 🤍

Make the time.

I’ve not got out and walked properly all week and I can tell. It’s important sometimes to just put this first, to let nature do what it does best and soothe the soul a little.

I even sat on the bench for 5 mins and admired one of my favourite views during my lunchtime walk.

Local friends ~ could we work together?

As you know that we try our best to be as sustainable as possible and are always looking into methods and ways to improve this.

With this in mind, we are trying to source materials as locally as possible and we’d like to ask for your help.

Are you local to us and if so, from your gardens and grounds, do you have any evergreen foliage that needs disposing of? Are you cutting down a tree/hedge/shrub and about to recycle the waste? If so, maybe you could help us.

What we’re looking for:

Any evergreen foliage such as:
~ yew
~ bay
~ pine
~ skimmia
~ viburnum
~ eucalyptus

(No holly please) 😉

We are quieter next year for weddings for some reason - maybe everyone is leaving it a little later than usual to book!
