A brief history of how our hall came to be built.
The Memorial Hall was built as a war memorial after World War 2.

The War Memorial committee met in the Hare and Hounds on 11th July 1951 for the purpose of raising money to build a memorial village hall, where Mr Stanley Winterbone was elected as chair of the committee. The land had been given by Mrs Elsie Howard; Hubert her late husband, had been chairman of the parish council for 33years and farmed Home Farm.
The committee raised £514 over the following 4 years, a further £200 was donated by Mr Coggins of Shooters Hill who also loaned them £266.
The hall was built by Mr Dick Beeby; Dick was one of George Beeby’s sons, who was one of the ‘life time’ villagers.
The keys were handed over to the committee on the 8th March 1955. Items to furnish and equip the hall were given by the villagers. The hall was used for many events, dances, weddings and clubs.

In the year 2000 the hall was extended by 9 feet for storage space at the back, and underwent a major refurbishment in 2009.

The hall is still used today by many groups, meetings, and village social events, as well as occasional users hiring the hall for parties of all ages.
