Merv & Maria Norfolk's Premier Country Duo, is a Father & Daughter who come from a tiny village just outside King's Lynn, in Norfolk. They present a lively good time show of popular Country, Irish & Sixties which is designed to turn any night into a party. Merv or Mervyn J Futter

as he is probably better known has been a familiar face on the country music scene for many years. He has been involved in music nearly all his life, starting off in the early 1970's in a Rock & Blues Band, Then moving into the Folk Clubs, before joining Spring Fever a function band, in the late 1970's. He decided to follow his love for Country Music and in the early 1980's decided to go it alone which was when Mervyn J Futter launched as a solo act. He didn't look back and worked at clubs and festivals all over the UK, His recording of "You Are No Angel" becoming a national dance floor favourite. He has also written and recorded some beautiful songs. He built his own recording studio ‘The Oasis’ and recorded many albums for busy touring acts. He has also become a popular compere and stage manager working at a number of large festivals. Maria Futter (Lynch) grew up around Country Music, with the sounds of Merle Haggard, Emmylou Harris and Ricky Skaggs filling the house and from the age of 5 Maria attended many of the festivals or clubs her father appeared in, and her love for Country Music soon became apparent. At the age of 13 Maria started to learn to play the bass guitar and showed an interest in joining her father. At the age of 15 Maria began singing and it was clear her passion was in Country Music. It wasn't until Maria was 16 she started to join her father at the odd venue for a couple of songs over time they started to add more and more songs to the show, along with backing vocals, and the age of 21 Merv & Maria were working together full time. Merv & Maria gained a large following and making many friends along the way. Their work has taken them to many Theatre's, Festivals and Country Music Clubs around the UK working alongside some of the biggest names to-date. Nowadays Merv & Maria are very well known for their extremely popular and well organised holiday weekends. They currently run weekends at The Royal Hotel in Great Yarmouth, South Downs Holiday Village near Cromer and Seacroft Holiday Village, Hemsby. These great value weekends have become well known for being very well run and having the very best in entertainment and they frequently sell out well in advance. Well that’s it folks! We’re all set for the airport and ready to make our way back home.

We really have had the most amazing holiday. We were so excited to come to Nashville, it’s been a lifelong dream.

We hoped it would be everything we thought it would be but it’s by far exceeded all expectations, and been one of the best adventures of our lives.

We apologise for your Facebook feeds being full of our adventures but hopefully, if you’ve never been, it’s inspired you to make the journey or at least you’ve been able to have a glimpse of what it’s like out here.

If you have been before then hopefully it’s bought some amazing memories back for you.

We have been so blessed this holiday, we have had so much fun, enjoyed so much incredible music, we’ve had the best tour guide ever Ryan Turner and made some wonderful new fiends.

We’ll see y’all soon xx

So just when you think this amazing trip can’t get any better, it takes on a whole new level and actually really does.

Last night we were invited out for a meal with some wonderful friends who we have met since being out here through Ryan.

We were all sat around chatting and just as the car came to collect us for the restaurant, we were told some other guests would be joining us for dinner.

In walks Carlene Carter Cash and her manager Monty Hitchcock. Doing our very best to hold ourselves together, we were like giddy excited children.

We made our way to the restaurant and had the most incredible meal, literally out of this world with just the most wonderful company.

Carlene Carter was just amazing, so much fun, so genuine, so real to herself and we sat chatting to her about horses, her family, her music, just everything.

One big thing I learnt from last night, as incredibly famous as we know her family to be, June Carter Cash was to her, just her mummy and you could still feel that love for a woman she was so incredibly proud of.

P.S she also told me “oh my goodness you look like Princess Diana, but way cuter” 🤣

Pinch me or wait for me to land back down on planet earth, either way I’m gone ❤️

Sorry if you have been trying to get hold of us, we promise we’ll be back in the office very soon.

We have been in Nashville living the “Country Music Dream” with our very good friend Ryan Turner as our tour guide.

We have never, ever been before and after sitting and talking with Ryan many times, finally a dream has come true and here we are.

We have had the most incredible time, one of the very highlights of the trip was getting backstage at the Grand Old Opry and meeting Gene Watson & Bill Anderson, a real dream come true.

🔷 March 2025 Hemsby - Change Of Acts 🔷

Sadly David James is no longer able to make our Hemsby Weekend in March 2025.

We have been busy ringing around and are absolutely delighted to have the incredible voice of Mr John Rafferty joining us on the line up.

John is a well loved favourite at our events and his voice is out of this world, so it’s a delight to have him at Hemsby with us.

Sadly also Darren Busby is still struggling after his recent treatment for cancer of the vocal cords.

We send him all our love on his recovery and look forward to having him back with us once he’s ready.

We are again thrilled to have the fabulous voice of Mr Warren Dewitt joining us on the line up, that big country voice is an absolute pleasure to listen to and we know just how popular he is.

We look forward to seeing you all soon xx

If you have booked any event with us, Merv & Maria and you are now unable to make that event, please just let us know at your earliest opportunity.

It would save us masses of time and effort chasing people, who when we finally get hold of them, sometimes very close to the event date, only to find out they are no longer coming but just haven’t said anything.

Please, please just let us know, it makes life a whole lot easier for all of us, especially when we have been turning people away.

What an amazing night we’ve all just had at the Queens Hall Watton, for the Darren Busby Benefit Night.

It was a freezing cold night, so a big thank you to everybody who braved the weather and supported the evening.

Seven first class acts on stage all giving their time and talent for free, along with Russell & Nick who did a great job on the sound and lights. Mike & Barbara who helped with the venue and the running of the evening.

It was a Sold Out show and such a lovely atmosphere. We were delighted that Darren who’d only just finished his radiotherapy that morning was able to come down and be a part of the evening.

Thank you all for coming, for supporting, donating raffle prizes, making donations.

We are absolutely delighted to hand over a whopping £2675 to help Darren and his family whilst he now takes the time he needs to recover.

Because Hemsby Beach Holiday Park are still officially closed on the run up to our Feb/March 2025 event, they are able to take your bookings for the Thursday Night before the start of our event.

Stephen Smyth Band Weekend

We are not long back from an absolutely amazing Stephen Smyth Band Weekend at the Savoy Hotel, Blackpool. We had so much fun and it was such an honour to be part of this brilliant event. We’ve always known Stephen was a top class show man but together with John Taylor they really pulled off some amazing first class performances over the weekend. It was such an honour to work with so many talented musicians and acts and friends over the weekend, everybody worked so hard together to make the weekend the success it truly was. Country Harmony were just great both on and off stage all weekend, so much fun with these “Big Lads” they really did put in some hours over the event and were just great night after night. A big thank you to Carla who helped organise the Coaches and arranged for everybody to travel over from Ireland smoothly and safely. The coach drivers, not only got everybody there but entertained in the late bar and nearly stole the show! The hotel and all the staff who were just so helpful all weekend, nothing was too much trouble. To everybody that came and supported the event, for joining in the fun, dancing non stop and just making such a wonderful atmosphere you made the weekend as special as it was. Thank you to Stephen for asking us to be a part of the weekend and for trusting us with your event. We look forward to doing all all again as soon as we can. Happy Days!!
