Merv & Maria Norfolk's Premier Country Duo, is a Father & Daughter who come from a tiny village just outside King's Lynn, in Norfolk. They present a lively good time show of popular Country, Irish & Sixties which is designed to turn any night into a party. Merv or Mervyn J Futter

as he is probably better known has been a familiar face on the country music scene for many years. He has been involved in music nearly all his life, starting off in the early 1970's in a Rock & Blues Band, Then moving into the Folk Clubs, before joining Spring Fever a function band, in the late 1970's. He decided to follow his love for Country Music and in the early 1980's decided to go it alone which was when Mervyn J Futter launched as a solo act. He didn't look back and worked at clubs and festivals all over the UK, His recording of "You Are No Angel" becoming a national dance floor favourite. He has also written and recorded some beautiful songs. He built his own recording studio ‘The Oasis’ and recorded many albums for busy touring acts. He has also become a popular compere and stage manager working at a number of large festivals. Maria Futter (Lynch) grew up around Country Music, with the sounds of Merle Haggard, Emmylou Harris and Ricky Skaggs filling the house and from the age of 5 Maria attended many of the festivals or clubs her father appeared in, and her love for Country Music soon became apparent. At the age of 13 Maria started to learn to play the bass guitar and showed an interest in joining her father. At the age of 15 Maria began singing and it was clear her passion was in Country Music. It wasn't until Maria was 16 she started to join her father at the odd venue for a couple of songs over time they started to add more and more songs to the show, along with backing vocals, and the age of 21 Merv & Maria were working together full time. Merv & Maria gained a large following and making many friends along the way. Their work has taken them to many Theatre's, Festivals and Country Music Clubs around the UK working alongside some of the biggest names to-date. Nowadays Merv & Maria are very well known for their extremely popular and well organised holiday weekends. They currently run weekends at The Royal Hotel in Great Yarmouth, South Downs Holiday Village near Cromer and Seacroft Holiday Village, Hemsby. These great value weekends have become well known for being very well run and having the very best in entertainment and they frequently sell out well in advance. We’d like to thank you all for your friendship and continued support throughout 2024.

We’re so lucky to be doing the job we love, the smiling faces, the laughter and creating wonderful memories makes it all so worth while.

We’ve had a fabulous time working with so many artists that we’re incredibly lucky to call friends. We would like to thank them all for their professionalism, friendship and for being such an important part of all our events.

We have met so many truly wonderful people over the years and we have loved every minute.

We look forward to doing it all again with you in 2025, let’s make every moment count and live it to the full, Happy New Year!!

We’re all Christmas ready! The letters have been written, we’ve checked the lists and we’re on the good list, well not quite all of us, but Dads still got time to turn it around.

We’ve been and seen the Big Man himself, even Baby Daisy got a sneaky cuddle, he even remembered she was a present from 2 years ago.

We’re now starting to put the Bookings for December 2025 at Hemsby Beach Holiday Park on the system.

We are delighted with the number of bookings we already have for this event, even with it being a whole year away.

We’ve only got about 30 places left on this October 2025 event at Hemsby Beach Holiday Park.

This is a Self Catering Holiday, there is a restaurant on site, also all accommodation has a fully fitted kitchen and appliances.

We only have 6 beautiful Platinum Lodges still available.

The Lodges have 2 bedrooms, a Double and a Twin room. 2 Bathrooms, en suite and family bathroom. A hot tub. Your own parking space by each lodge and a 2pm Check In time.

Price for a lodge is £220 per person based on 2 people sharing or £200 per person based on 4 people sharing.

🔦The Great Black Out Event 2024 🔦

What an absolutely fabulous Merv & Maria Country & Irish Weekend we have just had with you all at Pontins, Pakefield.

This event at times had absolutely everything thrown at it, 90mph winds, Code Red weather warnings, cancelled and delayed flights but even a full on power cut couldn’t keep us down.

A massive thank you to all our who acts who performed over the weekend, you all put on such varied great shows and all did yourselves and us very proud.

A special mention to the fabulous Ryan Turner Band, who literally worked their socks off over the weekend backing many of the artists. These boys really are first class at what they do and we love every minute of having them on our events.

A big thank you to Russell Kemp “Uncle Russell” who did such a great job on the sound all weekend, kept all the shows running smoothly for us and made sure all the acts were happy at all times.

Marc James who helped massively by entertaining everybody on the Friday afternoon whilst waiting for their keys. Marc also kept the parties going well into the early hours in the late night bar.

Sara King our line dancing instructor who did a wonderful job teaching both mornings and allowing people to learn or build their confidence on the dance floor.

Steve Tyers who made his way to Stansted and back each day collecting and delivering the Irish acts safely to and from the airport. He battled roadworks, diversions, traffic and storms to make sure they all arrived in time for their shows.

A final big thank you to everybody who came to the event and danced, sang along, partied and joined in the fun throughout the entire weekend.

We had the most amazing weekend being with you all, there’s nothing better than seeing happy faces and knowing we have helped to create such wonderful times and memories for you all.

This event shall forever be remembered as the “Black Out Event” and bring a smile to all our faces………🔦

One moment the stage is being set up, all the gear being so carefully put into position all wired up in the correct order.

Then it’s show time, the stage comes to life, it’s looking amazing both live music and memories being created right infront of our eyes and ears.

Then before you know it the weekend is all over, the gear is again carefully packed away, the stage lights all turned off, the stage becomes a shell of what it was only hours before.

This so reflects real life, hold onto every special moment as they are being made, everyday amazing things happen right in front of your eyes and sometimes we’re all so busy or worrying we can so easily miss them.

Keep making amazing memories and enjoy them as they happen 💙❤️

A fabulous Saturday Evening here at our Merv & Maria Festive Country & Irish Weekend At Pontins, Pakefield December 2024.

The evening started off with a UK act the wonderful Ridgeway, a really sharp band gave a terrific set of country, played exactly how country should be played.

It’s always such a pleasure to work with these guys and tonight was no exception, a great start to the evening.

Next up, again another UK act this time the legend Dave Sheriff. Dave always gives a great show and tonight he did just that.

We’ve known Dave along time and he has never failed to deliver. So lovely to join him to sing “Best Of Friends” a special moment as it’s our last time at Pontins.

The final act of the evening, Mr David James. Again we’ve worked with David many times, such a great lively show and tonight he was on top form.

The Ryan Turner band were on fire and the show was building and building for the finale when bang the power went out, Storm Darragh had finally hit and bought a power cable down.

Thankfully we managed to find a megaphone, we had David James, Elaine Boyle & Raymond Kelly singing Christmas songs in the twinkling emergency lights and 500 people singing along.

Thankfully the power was only off for about 45 minutes which meant it was now midnight and we were able to kick off with Marc James and the late night music.

Some great late night fun with guest singers, including our little star Jessica ✨

With all the weather problems we still had a wonderful Saturday and a memorable “acoustic session” in the dark.

A wonderful Saturday Afternoon here at our Merv & Maria Festive Country & Irish Weekend At Pontins, Pakefield December 2024.

Starting off the afternoon the angelic voice of Hayley Oliver backed by the superb Ryan Turner Band.

Hayley gave us such a beautiful set, her voice sounded as great as ever.

Next up Marc James, who got the crowd going, like he has been doing in the late night sessions already.

Lots of fun and laughter with Marc and plenty on dancers on the floor.

The final act of the afternoon, literally just landed off the plane and straight onto the stage Raymond Kelly, Geronimo.

Always a lively show with Raymond, as always Raymond gave us a great show and left the crowd wanting more…happy days 🤣🤣

A fabulous First Evening here at our Merv & Maria Festive Country & Irish Weekend At Pontins, Pakefield.

Kicking off the evening in great style The Ryan Turner Band, these boys are always on top form and tonight was no exception.

The boys really got the crowd going from the start and had the dance floor full from start to finish.

Next up George Payling, who bless his heart really was not feeling well today but didn’t want to let anybody down. So travelled all the way down to be with us at Pontins this evening.

Sadly the dreaded bugs had taken poor Georges voice and only a few songs in it was clear to see George was going to be unable to continue. Poor George was absolutely gutted.

Not wanting George to do any long term damage to his voice we got up with him to give him a hand, whilst we waited for the next act to get changed quickly backstage.

The multy talented Stephen Smyth & John Taylor had quickly got changed and come on early to help George out.

These boys always know how to work a crowd and have us 2 fabulous sets of favourites.

The dance floor was buzzing and the crowd dancing and singalong bough a great first evening to a close.

Marc James then took over on the late night stage for those not yet ready for their beds and carried on the party until the early hours.

A great first night and start to our weekend 👍🏻

We are not long back from an absolutely amazing Stephen Smyth Band Weekend at the Savoy Hotel, Blackpool. We had so much fun and it was such an honour to be part of this brilliant event. We’ve always known Stephen was a top class show man but together with John Taylor they really pulled off some amazing first class performances over the weekend. It was such an honour to work with so many talented musicians and acts and friends over the weekend, everybody worked so hard together to make the weekend the success it truly was. Country Harmony were just great both on and off stage all weekend, so much fun with these “Big Lads” they really did put in some hours over the event and were just great night after night. A big thank you to Carla who helped organise the Coaches and arranged for everybody to travel over from Ireland smoothly and safely. The coach drivers, not only got everybody there but entertained in the late bar and nearly stole the show! The hotel and all the staff who were just so helpful all weekend, nothing was too much trouble. To everybody that came and supported the event, for joining in the fun, dancing non stop and just making such a wonderful atmosphere you made the weekend as special as it was. Thank you to Stephen for asking us to be a part of the weekend and for trusting us with your event. We look forward to doing all all again as soon as we can. Happy Days!!
