In just a short space of time, Wheats has become one of the most exciting new artists to emerge from the UK in recent years, sitting at the forefront of the country’s surging wave of rising DJs and producers making an impact on the global scene.
Known for his signature low-end grooves, Wheats continues to impress with every record as he shapes and crafts his distinctive sound. Releasing cuts on his own imprint BOX RED alongside other respected labels such as Hot Creations and Solid Grooves, the UK DJ/producer has enjoyed the backing of some of the biggest names in the underground scene, including Jamie Jones, Michael Bibi & Marco Carola.
First breaking onto the scene as a young, wide-eyed 18-year-old, it was a chance meeting with New York house legend Kerri Chandler which started his ascent onto the global house landscape. After listening to his demos on the spot, before playing two of his tracks in that same very set, the young Brit impressed the house icon so much that he went on to sign him to his label.
Building on his breakthrough, Wheats has toured around the UK, across Europe and throughout America, playing for brands such as Paradise, Solid Grooves, Eastenderz, ANTS and The BPM Festival across renowned institutions such as DC10, Amnesia, Printworks, Warehouse Project, Club Space and Hï - plus back-to-back appearances at Creamfields.
His latest venture sees him also add the title of label boss to his resumé with the launch of his label, BOX RED. A burgeoning project which has quickly become one of Beatport’s most popular labels within the Minimal/Deep Tech genre, the imprint has already racked up multiple #1’s with tracks such as ‘N NIGHT’, ‘LET’S KICK IT’ and ‘HEAD’S ROLL’ championed by the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Loco Dice, Enzo Siragusa and Joseph Capriati
