Two runners from JZ Flowers, Jonny Young and Chris Manoussakis, are gearing up to participate in the prestigious TCS Amsterdam Marathon on Sunday, October 20th.

This challenging event, recognised with the World Athletics Platinum Label, will see them running through some of Amsterdam’s most scenic landmarks, including the Rijksmuseum and Vondelpark.

Supporting Worthy Causes
In this marathon, Jonny and Chris have joined hands with the Dutch Flower Foundation (DFF), a noble initiative supporting various projects that benefit growers and partners within the flower supply chain. The funds raised from their participation will be directed towards two significant foundations:

Wonder Woman Elgon Foundation (Kenya): This foundation focuses on empowering women in Kenya, providing them with the necessary tools and support to thrive.

Mela for Her Foundation (Ethiopia): Dedicated to enhancing the lives of women in Ethiopia, this foundation works towards creating better opportunities and fostering development.

Congratulations to our Business Fives football team who yesterday took on 28 other local companies in a bid to become Hull Football Tournament Corporate Champions.

The JZ team finished top of their group, earning them a place in the competition’s ‘Champions League’, but were eventually knocked out by the team who ended up as overall champions. By taking part in the event, the team helped raise vital funds for various local and National charities. A great achievement both on and off the field.

Earlier this week, we said a fond farewell to John Bramley who officially retired from JZ Flowers after 15 years at the business. During his career at JZ Flowers, John has worked across multiple departments including Quality Control and our Health and Safety department.

Two kittens, miraculously found amongst a stack of pallets at JZ Flowers’ Newport site, have now been nursed back to full health.

Annie Dixon, HR Administrator at JZ Flowers, took home the two-week-old kittens and, after taking advice from Hull Animal Welfare, the cats are now on the mend.

The kittens, named Lucky and Ziggy, needed around the clock care including being fed every two hours and litter trained.

The kittens were found abandoned and believed to have been mothered from a stray cat, but thanks to Annie’s love and care, Lucky and Ziggy have now been successfully rehomed.

Yesterday, we were in Holland hosting a joint suppliers’ update with SuperFlora for all of our amazing Dutch suppliers.
