“It never ceases to amaze me how the tiniest details and finishing touches can make or break a design.
And after all these years I can still be completely bowled over by this phenomena. Sometimes we are talking literally millimetres that can make such a huge difference to a gown so as a designer, knowing when to stop and when to keep going is a constant challenge. I can say with all honesty that in the creation of ‘Nereids’, the flow to keep going was unending so in my mind it will always feel unfinished. And that’s the way it wanted to be… ☺️💃🏻✨ “

My question to you today is....
Is it really possible to be iconically beautiful, intelligent, cultivated, multi talented, hugely successful and ......remain modest?

Apparently so.

Lisa Fonssagrives, the first supermodel, it seems was able to do exactly that.

Once described by Times magazine as “the highest paid, highest praised, high fashion model in the business “ she was not only an inspiration to an era, she was also very annoyingly, 😁...a ballet dancer and teacher, photographer, fashion and jewelry designer, sculptor, muse, pinup .....and mother of two.
How does ANYONE get the time... and energy, to do all that?!!!

She had “killer cheekbones”, a 17” waist (when pinched🙀)and added an almost aristocratic dignity to anything she wore but is quoted as saying ....
"It is always the dress, it is never, never the girl. I'm just a good clothes hanger." 🤣

What I really love about this though is that behind all that success and outward appearance of super cool and her almost haughty chic ... she was really shy, down to earth ......and happiest in bare feet. 🥰

Her birthday was Monday 🎂 so I was a bit late posting.... sorry about that. Don’t know where the week went!... Is it me or is time speeding up?!! 🙀🤣

I think it’s true to say I don’t design for shrinking violets! 😁
Sometimes a bride will visit who at first seems a little shy and blushing ...but I’m always amazed at the transformation in them once their corset is fitted and their gown is pinned in place.
Beautiful Olivia was never shy.🤩
She knew she wanted to shine from word go and flew from New Zealand to make sure she did.💃🏻✨
I can’t tell you how my face lights up when I look through pics of all the brides we have had the privilege of dressing over the years. Love you all! 😍.... Stumbled across these of Olivia today and couldn’t not share them with you 😊💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💕

Pretty much everyone will recognise this iconic gown worn by Jacqueline Bouvier (Jackie Kenedy 😁) but I wonder how many will know it was designed by Anne Cole Lowe?
The first successful African American designer, she was highly individual and very well loved by her high society clientele up to the 1960’s.
