Born OTD in 1872, the mathematician and philosopher Bertrand Russell spent much of his childhood living in Richmond Park’s Pembroke Lodge, where he said he “grew accustomed to wide horizons and an unimpeded view of the sunset”- as visitors still do today.

Pembroke Lodge and kiosk remain open this afternoon

⚠️ Due to predicted wind gusts of over 40mph the Isabella Plantation and Pembroke Lodge Gardens will be closed to the public from midday today , Thursday 28 March.

⛔ While the Petersham Gate playground will also close at midday.
Pembroke Lodge and the kiosks around the park remain open.

We'd also advise visitors not to seek shelter under trees during the high winds.

We're sorry for any inconvenience that these closures may cause.

⚠️ Please be aware that from Thursday, 1 February, the pedestrian gates in Richmond Park will be locked each day from 8pm and reopened for 7.30am the following morning, for a period of up to seven weeks.

⚠️ As Storm Isha approaches, certain areas of the park will be closed tomorrow, Sunday 21 January.

⛔ Due to predicted wind gusts of over 40mph the Isabella Plantation and Pembroke Lodge Gardens will be closed to the public all day.

While any playgrounds with tree cover will close earlier than usual on the Sunday.

Pembroke Lodge and the kiosks around the park remain open.

We'd also advise visitors not to seek shelter under trees during the high winds.

🦌 During the rut, you may see male deer parallel walking to assess the size and condition of their opponent. If neither backs down, they will lock antlers and engage in a shoving match to settle the dispute.

⚠️ Please remember to keep a minimum of 50 metres from the deer. If the male deer seem active then we recommend at least 100 metres.

The park will remain open to pedestrians wishing to visit on this day.

We are asking visitors to Richmond Park to be mindful of the ground-nesting skylarks.

The impact of footfall to protected, off-path areas in Richmond could lead to the iconic skylark being lost if the nests are trampled on by visitors or disturbed by dogs.

In certain areas we ask that dogs be kept on short leads during the breeding season from March to September.
