It’s 5 years since my mum passed - I honestly don’t know where that time has gone. There are very special words by that really ring true about grief. On Those Days - Donna Ashworth On those days,
when you miss someone the most,

as though your memories,
are sharp enough,
to slice through skin and bone,

remember how they loved you.

Remember how they loved you,
and do that,
for yourself.

In their name,
in their honour.

Love yourself,
as they loved you.

They would like that.

On those days when you miss someone the most,
love yourself harder. Grief is different for everyone, don’t compare yourself, don’t be surprised when it catches you unaware. Allow yourself to remember, and smile because they lived. Look after yourself.

It’s International Coffee Day today. I love a coffee. Whether it’s kickstarting the day, spending time with family and friends or sat at the side of me whilst writing a ceremony or eulogy or even a cheeky espresso martini, coffee is my friend.

My lovely dad would have been 80 today but was taken 23 years ago - too soon. This quote by Vicki Harrison is so true; Grief is like the ocean; it comes on waves ebbing and flowing. Sometimes the water is calm, and sometimes it is overwhelming. All we can do is learn to swim. Each journey through grief is an individual one, but it’s the price of loving someone. Wherever you are on your journey accept it’s your path. Give yourself a hug and take care.
