Restoring our historic building and retaining its character is really important to us, so wherever we can, we have retained and enhanced the original features, including, of course, the arches which graced the grain barn and the bull pens. We’re also incorporating and re-using resources like the Carmylie slate recovered from one of the building roofs.

We are busting with excitement and can't wait for the big reveal soon! In the meantime, here is more of our progress....
We have 9 of these giant steel hoops, made by our local blacksmiths. We’ll have festoon lighting hanging from the beams with fairy lights and foliage.
Our internal barn walls are being painted (Farrow and Ball School House White) to 2.5 meters to give a lovely soft backdrop to our party barn. You can see our graphics below. The stonework will be exposed above that all the way to the vaulted ceiling.
The back wall of our barn will house our bar. The walls are Farrow and Ball - Tanners Brown.
The walls of our 200 year old grain barn are made of Kirriemuir sandstone, which has a lovely reddish tone, and this can be seen in the barn itself and outside in the beautifully restored courtyard.
Our beautiful doors, windows, and wood clad areas are crafted by local tradesmen and painted Farrow and Ball Green Smoke, which complements the red of the sandstone and the terracotta of our funky roof perfectly.

🥂 Valentine’s Venue Viewing - the perfect time to fall in love with your venue.

🩷 We can now reveal an insight into our vision. We are so excited to release a sneaky peek of our party barn, with more to follow soon.

💡Having been inspired by an English grain barn, with striking similarities and dimensions, we have tweaked a few original ideas and incorporated a few new ones, like keeping some of the exposed stonework. This will compliment our vaulted ceiling with exposed timbers, from which we will be hanging 9 huge steel hoops, specially made by our local blacksmiths, for fairy lights, flowers and foliage. Between the rafters we'll have festoon lights.

Out in the 320m2 courtyard, having repointed and restored the 200 year old Kirriemuir sandstone walls, we no longer wish to paint it all. We will leave the natural stone which looks stunning as the sun sets and the golden hour approaches.

Aylwin and our housekeeper Maria went on a beautiful wee staff outing and shopping trip to the House of Bruar at Pitlochry on Wednesday to buy our new tweed uniforms. We'll be getting the Kinclune logo on the lapels! The earthy tones will compliment our beautiful surroundings, and the Kinclune logo will tie in nicely.

We are super excited to have ordered our custom headboards for the Grieves Cottage from the lovely Liz at .and.found.homeware London. Cannot wait to get these for our 3 bedroom Grieves Cottage!!! Just a few weeks to wait and this absolute gem will be renovated and ready for guests.

Kinclune Estate and Organic Livestock Farm

Rowan and Marguerite Osborne have been farming Kinclune since 2003. Daughters Virginia (Osborne Antolovi) and Aylwin (Pillai), both lawyers, work in the family business and son, James, a lawyer and investment banker, takes an active role in business planning.

Kinclune comprises two farm units, Kinclune and Gairlaw, totalling over 1000 acres of quality grassland, rough grazing, woodland, wetland and some arable.

There are three strands to our organic farming business: beef cattle, sheep and Highland ponies.

We maintain a herd of suckler cross cows which we breed with pedigree Limousin and Aberdeen Angus bulls to produce organic, Limousin and AA cross replacement heifers and stirks.

Our cattle have a short and low stress supply chain for the animals, a number of stirks are sold direct from Kinclune to an organic finisher in the Spring, the remainder are either retained for breeding or are sold direct from pasture to our local abattoir at the end of summer. We overwinter the majority of our cattle indoors, letting them out for Spring calving.

Our Llyen and Texel cross ewes live outdoor year round, and are lambed on the in-bye pasture in the spring. The lambs are sold direct from Kinclune, optimising their quality of life and reducing any stress factors.

We believe in producing best quality organic lamb and beef in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way, whilst maintaining an excellent quality of life for our livestock. The progressive framework and education provided by being members of the Scottish Organic Producers Association (SOPA) enables us to achieve our goal.

We have been breeding Highland ponies for almost forty years both for showing and for working. Our stud name is ‘na Dailach’ meaning ‘of the Dell’, relating to our roots in the Highland village of Kingussie. We maintain a small herd of mares and four stallions: homebred Glenmazeran na Dailach and Fandango na Dailach; island bred, Charlie of Muck; and German bred, Kilnacasan Glenmark. Outcross stallions have been carefully selected, bringing in the very best of bloodlines.

We show in-hand and under saddle and have many wins at the highest levels including at the National Pony Society, the Royal Highland Show, Blair Castle Horse Show and the Horse of the Year Show. Both Virginia and Marguerite are respected judges.

In addition to our Highlands we have a Clydesdale and two Shetland ponies.

We use our ponies for farm work, such as moving cattle & sheep and checking animals out on summer grazing, and the ponies enjoy it!
