Plant propagation, have you tried it yet?
You can do it with so many varieties inside and out. It's one of the cheapest ways to grow your collections, make gifts for friends, save a struggling plant. 🌿 You never need much, just pots, jars, water, soil, sand, or sometimes sphagnum, moss or leca.
📍Plants: String of Pearls
Today for Pearls, you do literally only need four things.
1. A jar, vase, glass or similar
2. Clean scissors
3. Water
3. Some patience for 2-3 weeks
In a few weeks you will need a small plant pot and some soil.
Method
1.Cut a good length of Pearls between two Pearls.
2. From the cut piece, at the cut end carefully remove four or five pearls taking care not to damage the stem. Then put this end into your jar of water. Tip: try not to dip to may Pearls into the water as these will turn your water bad quickly.
3. Place in a bright spot out of direct sunlight.
4. Refresh your water weekly to encourage growth and get avoid a build up of germs.
5. Roots will begin to grow from the little nodes where you took off the Pearls, once these have got to about an inch. You are ready to pot up into soil.
Tip: if you have any perlite or something you prefer to add into your soil to help with drainage I would recommend, you only need a small amount but it will make a difference.
📍To help transfer the beauties back from being in water, please ensure that you keep the soil moist (not soaking) until the roots become established in the soil. Never leave Pearls in standing water for extended periods of time.
