What a magical time we all had over the weekend for our Harry Potter Ultimate Craft Day! 🧙🏻♀️🪄⚡️🎉📖💭💡🎨
The children arrived at Platform 9 3/4 and spent the day on a creative journey to Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, and Diagon Alley. 🚂
They then visited Ollivander’s to make their wands, which was followed by a sorting hat ceremony, where they met their professors for the day. The second half of the morning involved some wizard duelling and making their very own chocolate frogs, boxes and wizard cards. 🍫🐸
After lunch, everyone was very excited to recreate their own version of the Marauder’s Map followed by a FaceTime from a real snowy owl! (They would have been with us in person but Storm Bert caused a few problems which prevented them from getting over to us). The last class of the day was Potions with Professor Snape, who successfully lead the children to make glow in the dark slime in cauldrons. Finally, it was time to journey back home but it wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Honeydukes for a bag of Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans and more! 🍬

As part of our workshop collection and back by popular demand, we are bursting at the seams with excitement to announce our upcoming 'Harry Potter Ultimate Craft Experience Day! ⚡️🧙
Ultimate Craft days are designed to provide a high quality craft experience for children, incorporating popular themed days from the world of books 📖 and entertainment.🎞
We will be immersing ourselves from the offset, stepping into character roles and fancy dress. The children will step through the walls of Platform 9 ¾🏃♂️🏃♀️ for a fun-filled day of magical craft 🎨✂️✨ visiting throughout the day: Diagon Alley, Honeydukes and of course Hogwarts, where they’ll be sorted into houses before absorbing themselves on a journey from Muggle to Magic with wizarding crafts, Quidditch and a visit to the Owlery🦉 where they can meet some of these beautiful nocturnal birds.

Today has been filled with lots of spooky fun with a special Halloween craft day to finish off the week! Lots of children dressed up for the occasion as they made cauldrons full of slime, Halloween decorations and played party games. It’s been a truly wonderful week, thanks to everyone who has joined us and we look forward to seeing you soon at our upcoming workshops throughout the winter!

Today has been mostly about pumpkin carving! 🎃
The children had the opportunity to design their own mini pumpkin, beginning with the challenging task of scooping out all the flesh and seeds, before carefully transferring their paper design onto their pumpkins. We enjoyed a film over lunch then went out to collect a variety of small leaves to make clay leaf ornaments with. A fantastic day had by all!

Today has been a truly fantastic, jam-packed day of fun and adventure! 😃
Starting with junk-modelled canvases, the children created some wonderful layered, seasonal collages using a variety of different materials. We then went into bushcraft survival mode, learning how to create a fire using flint and steel techniques, collecting appropriate materials to build a Kelly Kettle fire, which we then used to boil up some water and warmed ourselves up with a hot chocolate, finishing off this fabulous outdoor session by toasting marshmallows over the flames.
The children then enjoyed a movie afternoon followed by a seasonal quiz. Such a great day had by all! 🥰🪵🔥☕️🍡🎨✂️🎬🍿

Day two of half term holiday club brought the sunshine out again and what a fabulous day we’ve all had! 😃 The children delighted in making hedgehog bread rolls, each team following a recipe and checking the ingredients as they carefully weighed them out. After cleaning up in kitchen corner, it was time for some bug-hunting and den-building as they enjoyed the beautiful weather and the wonders offered by the surrounding greenery. In the afternoon, we all searched for special leaves that would be just right for creating some woodland creatures. Everyone made a fabulous effort and they turned out great - what a fantastic day!

We enjoy so many magical moments at holiday club, especially when we are visited by some very special and talented guests. We were lucky enough to be visited by a local artist Hannah Robinson Illustrations AND a local children’s author Katherine Woodfine this week.
With Hannah, the children looked at ‘The Great British Seaside’ discussing all the things they might see and experimented with different materials to create a variety of textures in their plans before creating a final landscape. Hannah stayed with us for the whole day and the children were delighted to share their finished artwork with her.
With Katherine, the children listened to a snippet of ‘Sophie Takes to the Sky’ and learned all about how Katherine’s books are inspired by real women who made history. They all thought of a person who inspires them and drew portraits of them, sharing the reasons why they chose that person and finished off the workshop designing beautiful hot air balloons from the Sophie story while Katherine moved around the room chatting to the children on each table about what they like to read and stories they have written. They had the opportunity to purchase a book and Katherine very kindly wrote personal messages for each child in them and presented them one by one. Two truly inspirational ladies who created two very special days for our Indigoers! 🥰🙌🏼🎨🖌️🖼️📝✍🏼

Some truly special memories have been made this summer and the children’s ceilidh was certainly one of the highlights! Linking our guest workshop to our Creative Olympics, the children learned about traditional Irish and Scottish folk music, sang a few new-to-them songs, learned a few ceilidh dances then enjoyed some old party favourites.

The children called for one more song at the end of the afternoon and I can honestly say, I’ve never experienced a folk version of the Macarena! 🥳
It was such a fun afternoon and everybody, staff included, had such a great time! 🥰

We had a fabulous day with a visit from the talented Sarah Hicks Art, who took us to Chile for our Creative Olympics, continuing our musical journey by making Rain Sticks with the children. They really did turn out brilliantly and everyone had a great time making, then playing them! Thanks again Sarah for such an enriching workshop! 😃

Last Thursday, we enjoyed a fabulous visit from Phil Gibson @ Music 2 Calm The Soul who came to holiday club during our wellbeing week to deliver a fascinating workshop which included a mini sound bath, an introduction to all the instruments and the countries they originate from, an instrument exploration session and story-telling through sound. The children worked well together in small groups and thoroughly enjoyed learning about and trying out all the different instruments. Thanks again for another fabulous session Phil! 😃🙌🏼💛

Yesterday, we were very excited to be joined by the fabulous Red Rose Stage Academy who came along to holiday club and provided not one but TWO amazing Encanto themed workshops for us!
💃🏼🕺🏻🎶🎤🫶🏼🌹
The children worked in two groups, with the older children learning a musical medley of both song and dance while the younger children focused on one main song. Everyone tried so hard and it isn’t an easy feat to sing, dance and put actions to it, all at the same time. 👏🏻🌟
We were very proud of them all and truly blown away with the level of talent and speed in which they picked up the lyrics and the dance routine! We also ticked off Colombia for our ‘Creative Olympics’! 😃🙌🏼🇨🇴
