Langport Community Choir

Amateur a ca****la choir that sings in the heart of the Somerset levels. Monday Evenings (term time) The rest is history.

Langport Community Choir was founded following a local 'Sing for Fun' course run by Somerset County Council. The original members of the choir raised the money to finance the project privately. We are a friendly group who sing for sheer enjoyment. Harmony songs from around the world are taught by ear so there is no need to read music and there are no auditions and nobody is expected to sing solo.

Our repertoire is building and we are now singing regularly at local events. Please post here, or message us, if you would like us to sing at your event, or if you would like to be a member of the choir or if you have any comments or suggestions. It's good to talk ... even better to sing!

What a lovely festive sing we had with Pete today at Coates English Willow Christmas Fayre - warming up in the willow shed was fun and watching Santa dangle above us for our sing in the brisk wind!

What a fabulous May Day sing we had with Pete at the Kingsbury May Festival today. A very warm welcome at the Methodist Church, glorious Spring sunshine and we sang our hearts out, remembering all who were unable to be with us.

The fabulous 'Lost Words' pictures created by children in Huish Episcopi Primary School are on display just now in Tesco Langport. How brilliant that our much loved summer song 'Lost Words' inspired these :)

Here are the 3 prizes winners of the Lost Words Art Competition most kindly run by Tesco in Langport in conjunction with Huish Primary School. The children who entered created really fabulous pictures inspired by the beautiful Lost Words Book - copies will be on display in Tesco Langport this summer. We are looking forward to singing the Lost Word Blessing song that inspired us again soon.

Please do come and enjoy our summer sing on Monday 18th July 2022 - 6pm outside Tesco in Langport. A huge thank you Tesco and Tracey Keating for hosting our performance to raise funds for a new school library at Huish Episcopi Primary school and publicity costs to spread our love of singing - how fabulous it is to be in full flow again this summer :)

We are looking forward to our next performance at the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebrations on Friday 3rd June - we will be singing a 30 minute set at 5.15pm - fingers crossed for lots of sunshine that day for everyone.
