We are busy behind the scenes making Christmas crafts including dried flower wreaths in a range of sizes and styles (small dried flower/foliage half wreath shown here on a handwoven British willow frame) for you, our pop ups and the Christmas markets that we are going to - these start next week on Sunday 17 November 11 am to 3 pm at the lovely . We will have a few fresh premade Christmas wreaths too for the Christmas craziest amongst us wanting to start early or please message or call us to order yours.

Treat yourself and join us for a friendly and relaxed Christmas/winter wreath workshop plus refreshments which included a selection of homemade cakes and bakes. This event will be run by Side Farm Flowers who are 5* hygiene rated!

You will moss a wired frame and add your own choices from a selection of homegrown/locally sourced, long lasting foliage, dried flowers (plus some spares to take away), luxury ribbons, cones, seed heads, berries and other adornments to create your own unique masterpiece. Handwoven willow frames are also available if preferred (these are less intensive on your hands and fully compostable/recyclable).

I genuinely love spending time at Gateford Hill Care Home with the people that live there and the staff. It's a gorgeous place filled with really lovely people and it's a real privilege to be able to take flowers and make people happy - the smiles melt my heart every time I go there ❤️

We have the gazebo out on Sunday, at the gorgeous, dog friendly Thoresby Park with Little Hummingbird Events for the first of our winter markets and I guess there's no more fighting it, Christmas is a comin' so we may as well embrace it! A dry day with some sunshine is forecasted too - pleased about that!

We have been busy behind the scenes and will share our Christmas ranges with you soon - plenty of gift solutions to shop local, avoid the crowds and we will be able to post out some things too this year so do pop and see us if you can.

Just a reminder for those on today's workshop that it's a 2 pm start at St Alban's Barn which is off Morthen Road, close to St Alban's school and next to the church. If you look out for the war memorial on Morthen Road that's at the end of the lane you need to turn into - it opens up at the end and there's plenty of space/free parking. Well making pimped up pumpkins got me thinking I had better start getting some crafting done for Christmas. Are you thinking about doing some Christmas prep too yet?

I've been pressing flowers that I've picked from the field/meadow most of the summer when I've had a spare minute so thought I'd create some Christmas baubles with my stash. These are ceramic and finished off with some cute little jute bows .... available now for the organised ... Or later for the less organised .... from us or you can pick some up at The Maker's Emporium in town on the High Street - they have a late night shopping event today with a raffle and nibbles so do drop in to see them if you're passing and check out their socials.

It's nearly pumpkin time again! These dried flower pumpkins are just brilliant - super cute, no smell or mould as they are uncut and you can even take the flowers off to reuse and eat them afterwards! Catching the very few rays of sunshine we've had yesterday with a large bouquet of sunflowers, strawflowers, ammobium, some verbena seed heads, berries and foliage.

Our cut flower season is coming to an end now with the earlier than usual colder, wet weather but we will have dried flowers, plants, bulbs and wreaths available over the winter months after the first hard frosts.

It's been a busy week and I am behind with literally everything ... Anyway ....we were out locally on Thursday evening in the town centre at the new space on the High Street for the monthly supper club. I didn't know I was getting fed too but they didn't need to ask twice ... and we all enjoyed lots of really gorgeous vegan food provided by followed by a flower arranging workshop in a vase with us which you could then take home with you in a gift bag.

If you haven't been yet, you don't know what you've been missing - it's very relaxed and welcoming, the people (staff and attendees) couldn't have been nicer and it was a genuinely lovely evening, so much so that I'd not feel uncomfortable to just go on my own ... and I will definitely go along to this again. The supper club runs once a month and is super reasonably priced so do give Wow Rotherham and Flux a follow for details and to see what else is going on in town - lots of good things are coming up which is great to see and be a small part of 😊

We are members of Farewell Flowers the Directory and this wreath was made for a lovely family after looking us up on there as they wanted a choice for their Grandma's funeral, something special just for her and a fully compostable tribute. They chose the flowers that they wanted from the field in a rainbow of bright colours that meant something to them including Cobaea Scandens (teacup and saucer) as their Grandma loved her cups of tea and we added meadow grasses.

As everything we do is bespoke, we sent a picture across to them as requested once completed the evening before the funeral to check our vision matched the customers - it did .... And then we delivered the wreath the following day to the funeral directors.

The customers sent me the most lovely message on email as per the last slide after kindly saying (I didn't ask them) please use any pictures and use on social media if you'd like to as more people should know there is another choice and it was difficult to find what we wanted. This is why we do what we do ❤️

This month our activity is flower arranging alongside delicious food from Ella Bella.

Enjoy a fun and relaxed, flower arranging workshop. You'll be able to choose your favourite flowers from a selection of beautiful, sustainable, locally grown, natural flowers/herbs from Side Farm Flowers and arrange these to make your own unique vase to take home with you at the end of the night! 💐

It's world bee day today and to celebrate here's a big and beautiful Queen red tailed bumblebee on some gorgeously scented sweet rocket. You can spot she's a Queen by her colouring and how big she is - just under 2.5 cm, the worker bees are about half that size. She will have a nest underground somewhere, probably under the old wall, I'll have to keep a look out! Bees and other pollinators are declining rapidly and need all the help they can get from us ... And we need them for our own survival too so please help save them. Way back in November, when we set up our stall for a Christmas market, we had a chance meeting, a chat about wreaths, dried flowers, flower farming and bees with a customer. Unbeknown to us at the time, this was Ben, one of Wolfgang Buttress' team and after a couple more meetings, this led on to the opportunity of a lifetime with a large, bespoke order of dried products that now form part of an amazing exhibition - Bees: a story of survival at the World Museum in Liverpool. All the fluff is nearly gone and their adult feathers are coming through already ... We're just starting to introduce them to last year's boys and figure out how many girls and boys we have - may need to buy in some extra females!
