We close on Friday 20th December for Christmas and we don't want to have to eat all the cakes that will be left when we shut the doors. So...............tomorrow, all food will be at half price. But, when it's gone, it's gone.

Another wild day that makes you want to stay home in front of the fire. If you do have to venture out and feel like some warmth and comfort on your travels, pop in and see us at the Saw Mill Cafe, Barton Court, Colwall, WR13 6HN [just behind the Loose Box]. What's your feeling about crackers? Love them? Waste of money? Or find them a necessary evil?
We selected three different versions from range to feature this year: normal sized, mini and saucer. They are priced respectively at £20, £12 and £7.50 in the shops.
Join our [free] loyalty scheme before close of business on Friday and get one of these at half price. Plus, your points will go towards a free coffee or money off your lunch in the New Year.

Nothing says Christmas more than turkey, mincemeat and wine. So please join us for a festive feast. We are open from Tuesday 17th to Friday 20th December from 9:30 until 3pm and then we will be closed until January.
To wish you all a very happy Christmas, we have Oscar's [our son's] pulled turkey baps on the menu. They are filled with juicy slow cooked Knightwick turkey, cranberry dressing and chestnut sauce, accompanied by a Christmas slaw. A mincemeat bakewell rounds off the meal and it is washed down with a glass of mulled wine. We have a vegan version for our vegan friends, too.
The Saw Mill is much bigger than our old cafe, The Loose Box, but it might be an idea to book because we already have 20 people for lunch tomorrow [Tuesday]and 41 on Thursday. We would hate you to miss out.
By the way, there is other - non Christmassy - food available, too, if, like me, you can't stand turkey!

Today, on the menu, we have an antidote to mince pies: coffee and hazelnut cake. This is the perfect marriage of bitter and sweet. Just the job to round off a delicious cup of James Gourmet Coffee Co Ltd coffee.
The prix fixe menus continue at lunch time and we have mulled wine simmering on the counter. Join us for a bite and a chat. The Saw Mill Cafe is open from 9:30am until 3pm for good food, good conversation and some great stocking fillers.

After the havoc and misery of the last few days, we thought we would cheer you up by reintroducing our 2 course Prix Fixe menus. Have a warming bowl of soup with some pasta or a toastie for £12.50. Or a larger meal of a main course and a dessert for £15.00.

By rights, tonight should be our Christmas Market but things have conspired against us this year. We were VERY disappointed that we could not host Father Christmas in the Clock Tower as we have done for the last few years. Hopefully, he will be back in 2025.
Meanwhile, the Barton Court team are decorating the Saw Mill - our new cafe - to be as festive as we can be.
To thank all the lovely customers who have kept us going this year, we are reinstituting the loyalty scheme as of tomorrow so you will get points for every pound you spend here. You can add them up and treat yourself to a free coffee, cake or money off a lunch. To get you started, the first 10 people to sign up will get 100 extra points. Plus, if you buy any of the little stocking filler gifts we have on sale, we will add another 10 points for each purchase. It will give you something to look forward to in the New Year.

We have jolly new tablecloths in the Saw Mill and a new menu of delicious food for snacks and lunches. As soon as the Christmas trees are in place, we will be offering special Christmas lunches so that you can celebrate with friends and family in advance of the big day [and with food you haven't had to cook yourself!]

Respect to all the people who came out yesterday in the snow to get a coffee and have some lunch. They all seemed to think the effort was worth it with high praise for my chicken croquettes and soup. It is lovely and cosy in the Saw Mill. We have reintroduced a settee and armchairs for those who want a gossip; there is a 'chef's table' near the counter for customers on their own who want a chat with us and plenty of light, air and views in the main body of the cafe for large groups. The igloo [our geodesic dome] came in handy yesterday as a bike park. No soggy bottom for that customer. Pop in today for a piping hot coffee, bowl of soup or a light lunch.

The new cafe at Barton Court

The Arty Farty Party is a creative group run by Sam James and is coming to Barton Court on 30th October. Paint/draw/sketch your favourite animal. Could be your dog, sheep, cat. Bring a photo or - within reason - the animal itself. Starts at 1pm and costs £25 with all materials and some refreshments included.
