The Portable Railway Company Hire our portable 5 inch gauge steam for practically any pop-up occasion nationwide! Who Are We? First and foremost we are steam enthusiasts.

We have both been involved with steam locomotives for many years and have some experience in design, construction and operation of smaller engines; and even have had some involvement with full size ones too! We provide a ride-on-railway service for your corporate event or private function and our smaller 5” gauge locomotives are ideal for compact installations both indoors (diesel only), or more c

ommonly outside where we can use the steam locomotives to full effect! With our experience, we can not only enthrall your guests - we can also answer any questions they might have. For that reason, we are also an ideal solution for educational establishments where we can bring our locomotives to life in a controlled environment and demonstrate why Britain was a world leader in this technology since “The Rocket” won The Rainhill Trials in 1879.

Painted EWS bodyside stripes and cantrail lining colours. Just doing the warning panels this morning so, fingers crossed she will be back in Royal Claret by Sunday.

It's just over 3 weeks until our next Open Day on Sunday August 14th.

There are 2 sessions on the day, each of 2 hours and our clubhouse will also be open to provide you refreshments as usual!

Another weekend completed; both days for Ravensprings Park, Brighouse and Halifax Model Engineers . Saturday was Brighouse Charity Gala with the portable track and today; a Charity Open Day at our club! Plenty of miles accrued, lots of happy faces and a chance to share our hobby with the public.

Tickets for next weekend's charity open day are starting to sell out!!

We are hosting this event to attempt to raise £1000 for Forget Me Not Children's Hospice in , a fantastic cause. You can visit their website: forgetmenotchild.co.uk to see the work they do or to donate if you can't visit us on Sunday:

To raise the £1,000, we are running 3 separate sessions of 90 minutes 'play time' with both railways and the clubhouse open for you to enjoy!

What a busy weekend for us at Brighouse 1940s Gala. Our portable track carried over 1300 passengers over the 2 day weekend, but the month has only just begun!!

Next week, the portable track will be at on Saturday, whilst we open our gates next Sunday for the first of this months 2 public running days!
