The Story Behind WK
Whiskey Kisses Promotions started out as a live events business venture to help bring more unsigned artists from the Roots, Americana and Country genres to Leeds. Founded by Roots music artist Emilia Quinn, the gigs had a unique spin for both audience and artists alike. As the shows were being organised and run by a performing artist they tended to cater well for the musicians
on the line ups, always remembering artist experience is just as important as audience enjoyment. Maintaining the artist-friendly ethos, Whiskey Kisses is now offering more than just live gig slots. Whiskey Kisses now provides a holistic support system for independent musicians looking to grow their career. From Marketing and PR to creating eye-catching promotional materials to maintaining mental and physical wellbeing, Whiskey Kisses are creating a community which takes all aspects of running a DIY music career into account. There are several businesses out there that simply provide a service, without sharing much knowledge on how it all works. There is of course a place for this, however, Whiskey Kisses aims to bridge a gap by educating artists while helping them create the promotional marketing materials they need to have. So instead of doing it all for the artist, Whiskey Kisses will guide them through the processes they need to achieve their goals, while allowing them to have full control and learn vital skills on how to build their career and look after themselves. Whiskey Kisses have also partnered with talented independent businesses to provide creative and wellbeing services such as videography, photography, mixing and mastering, confidence coaching and even physical training. These businesses have been vetted by the WK Team to ensure their quality is of high standards and they are a positive influence. With skilled team members and high-quality partners, Whiskey Kisses is run for artists by artists. We understand what it’s like to be independent in this industry and we are here to help you succeed.
We heard of our friend Simon Clulo passing away this weekend. He was such a kind hearted person and a hugely talented artist and songwriter. Today currently he is number 3 in the chart. STATEMENT
I have made the difficult decision to close the doors of Whiskey Kisses Promotions indefinitely.
The gigs, classes, mentoring have all been wonderful and I am honoured to have worked with talented artists and attentive audiences.
This decision simply comes down to time. If you know me I don’t do thing by half and it goes against everything I am to half-heartedly do a job. As I’ve met more artists, more audiences and made a name for myself I find my own career has taken over and I am onto bigger projects which need much of my attention. I started WK to meet likeminded musicians, share music with an audience who love it as much as I do and bring Roots, Americana and Country music to Leeds more often. And WK did exactly that.
I am so proud of how successful WK has been. In all the shows we put on we only ever made one loss (and we still got a radio show out of it and good vibes) This is because of individuals who shared the same music taste showing up every month to support grassroots music. Something I admire greatly.
So this isn’t necessarily goodbye forever, but for now keep heading out to those live shows, keep supporting grassroots music and keep being your wonderful selves.

Shannon Hynes is an independent, Welsh, songwriter and artist drawing influences from the Country, Americana and Folk genres. Shannon pairs an organic, traditional instrumentation with her deep intricate lyrics, all upheld by the dulcet innocence of her vocal. Receiving comparisons to modern leaders in the genre such as Kacey Musgraves and Clare Bowen, she has also been likened to legendary musical icons such as Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris.
The unapologetic way in which Shannon conducts herself and her music exemplifies why she has gained such great respect in the UK Country scene and is described as the ‘one to watch in 2021’.

Buffalo Ghost is a music collective created in 2017 by Singer Songwriter Joe Armitage. Buffalo Ghost write and record meaningful music featuring collaborators and friends.
He recently released 6ft From You, a record born from the time suddenly found to spare during the lockdown.

Chris Dover Musician is a singer/songwriter based in Bradford,UK. Influenced by the great country, blues and americana storytellers of the last 100 yrs.

Barker Music is a Singer Songwriter from Lancashire's rural town of Clitheroe. At a young age, it was always apparent that Georgia had a unique talent when it came to music and countless performances have confirmed these thoughts.
Her voice is husky and soulful with a Country vibe, her style - nothing short of individual.

We’re so excited to welcome everyone to the first Whiskey Wednesday at Northern Guitar Bar this week.
For everyone’s safety and comfort we request that a few guidelines are followed to make this gig enjoyable for everyone:
- Please do not attend if you are feeling unwell, if possible take a test. Anyone not able to come due to a positive lateral flow test will be refunded (proof will be required)
- Please bring a mask or face covering, the venue is small and if the door sales increase the numbers we may ask that everyone wear one while moving around the venue
- Please do not hug or touch the artists without asking first, some artists may still want to social distance so please check with them individually and respect their boundaries. I’m sure we can all agree gigs need to be comfortable for both audience and performers!
- Please only touch merchandise you are purchasing to stop any potential spread of the virus

Whiskey Kisses Promotions was born out of a love for live, grassroots music.
Americana/Alt. Country singer-songwriter, Emilia Quinn, moved to Leeds in 2018 and found herself breaking into the UK Country music scene. With a background in gig promotion, Emilia wanted to bring more Country to Leeds and introduce songwriter rounds to more people outside of the Country music scene. Beginning with a line up consisting of friends Katee Kross, Finola, April Jai and Kezia Gill, Emilia received a great feedback which encouraged her to run a round every month. Whiskey Kisses Promotions also put on bands nights, so far hosting the likes of Stevie O’Connor, Katy Hurt, The Bluehighways, Morganway and more.
Whiskey Kisses is a labour of love named after one of Emilia’s songs. It aims to provide a platform for artists falling under the Americana, Country and Roots music umbrella in Leeds. It is a fair and friendly environment for all artists and audience alike.
