Andrew Sims Centre The Andrew Sims Centre (ASC) is part of the Learning and Organisational Development Team within Leeds and York Partnerships NHS Foundation Trust.

The Andrew Sims Centre is dedicated to providing high quality continuing professional development (CPD) courses for all medical and healthcare professionals at different stages of their career. Over the last thirteen years the ASC has built its reputation as a leading provider of continuing professional development (CPD) events for mental health and learning disability professionals. The ASC progr

amme focusses on evidence-based clinical and therapeutic practices for a national multidisciplinary audience. The ASC also provides an event management service and design and delivery of bespoke training tailored to your needs. Our Name
The Centre is named after Professor Andrew Sims; a former Dean (1987-1990) and President (1990-3) of the Royal College of Psychiatrists' and the first Director of Continuing Professional Development (from 1993-7) also at the Royal College of Psychiatrists'. He worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist for Leeds Partnerships NHS Foundation Trust when it was Leeds Community and Mental Health Services Teaching NHS Trust. Amongst his many achievements, he was instrumental in establishing Tuke House as a community unit for the treatment of neurosis, developed the specialist PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) service and was heavily involved in the development of the Yorkshire Centre for Eating Disorders. All our events are available to staff from NHS Trusts, public sector, private and voluntary (third) sector health and social care agencies.

Check out our new animation on what to expect after an Andrew Sims Centre event.

After the event, a thank you email will be sent to you including a link for a feedback form, if it was not completed during the event. This form will ask you if you'd like to subscribe to our newsletter.

After the feedback form has been complete, about a week later, you will receieve your attendance certificate which we will ask you to double check.

The only left to do now, is book onto another course!

Led by Dr Calli Tzani this talk will focus on su***de prevention strategies, will assist in identifying the risks and preventive factors related to su***de and su***de attempts, examine su***de notes, as well as increase awareness about su***de behaviour. The talk will also focus on how the online environment could pose a risk for individuals with su***de ideation.

1. A booking confirmation email confirming your place on the course and the course information.

2. A 2 Week Reminder email with further details about the venue and asking you whether you need help travelling to the venue or need accommodation.

3. A 1 Week Reminder email with the venue details and double checking we have received all your dietary or special requirements for the day.

4. A 1 Day Reminder email containing the virtual delegate pack, including the programme and timings for the day and often including the slides or reading materials for the course.
