Friday Night Live - Fisher/Henry/Roffe featuring Michael Kanan
In exciting Jazz news, we are over the moon to be hosting a performance/workshop from renowned New York-based Jazz pianist Michael Kanan on the 15th of November!
Taking influence from the rich jazz tradition Howard/Henry/Roffe play songs from the great American songbook and new original compositions. Influenced by the swinging sounds of the 50s/60s. The group features some of North's finest jazz musicians. The trio is working with legendary jazz pianist Michael Kanan for a short run of gigs. Michael is one of New York’s most esteemed pianists and has worked with Kurt Rosenwinkle, Lee Konitz and Mark Turner.
The band plays firmly within the jazz tradition and all share a love for straight-ahead jazz, highlighting the tight improvisation style and crisp arrangements of the music. Expect these talented musicians to explore virtuosic solos, memorable melodies, and swinging grooves.
Would you be interested in improving your own jazz piano skills? Kanan will host a masterclass in Jazz piano at 5:30 before the gig, so buy the full-price ticket if you want to learn straight from the horse's mouth!
