Hello, I’m Pre-school room leader at a nursery in glenfield. I just wanted to message to let you know that we found the bouquet of flowers and wanted to wish you all a happy Valentine’s Day aswell. My children greatly appreciated the flowers and we have placed them in the playdough area for the children to smell and admire ❤️

Would love to know if any of the others were found!

(Photo from supermarket flowers) THIS IS NOT A POST ABOUT COMPARING PRICES WITH SUPERMARKETS

It’s a simple fact that independent florists can not compete with supermarket prices- supermarkets can buy in the 1000’s, they are happy to have their red roses in storage for 10/14 days before putting them on the shelves (don’t even get me started on what that does to the flowers once you get them home) and they can fix their prices a year in advance but…. What we can compete with and in my experience florists WIN is quality! I’ve nipped to a supermarket this evening, I can’t believe the state the roses and other flowers are in, they are fiddly small, most of them were bruised and petals damaged and about 60% of them had mould.

I know everyone has to work with a budget, but if you do do Valentine’s Day, and you can afford to use an independant florist, please do- you will get a bouquet, where the flowers have been cared for, they’d have been freshly picked (with the last few days), put together carefully by a person not a machine, with someone who has likely been to college for at least a year (I did 2!). Yes they might be a bit more money but you will see the differnt in size and quality- and so will your Valentine!!!!

For 1 extra pound to what this bunch of rubbish was for sale for you can have a beautiful single red roses with oodles of fresh foliage, beautifully wrapped if you are wanting a romantic gesture on a lighter budget, and for a little bit more spondoolies we have mixed bouquets and Red Rose Bouquets!

A customer wanted me to embrace the eco friendly practices I’m trying to achieve at Sweetpea, by not using ANY plastic trays or floristry foam.

This was made using a glass bowl and chicken wire, lots of foliage and a “garden” feel was the end goal! Lots of “negative space” in this arrangement, just like it would be in a garden!

My customer has sent these pictures in from her dinner party, and this arrangement will continue to look lovely in her home all week!

As a trained florist my training was always on fresh flowers, but I’ve always seen the beauty in the winter- the dead heads, twigs and new shoots, capture nature in all its “cycles!

Love working with hydrangeas- it’s like having 100 flowers in 1 lovely large head!

They are great on their own or a bundle together -
Just so cute!

How amazing is nature? These come in so many different colours and the pH of the soil, in most cases, has something to do with the colour of the flowers!

What’s your favourite flower? I’ll try and look out for them at the wholesalers and see if I can bring it into my next make!
