An extended thank you to a lot of people for making yesterday possible, not least to Charli Evans who has returned to the UK twice this year to make this possible, and is a world class wrestler and human being.
To our new Resurgence Champion Kanji THANK YOU. To watch you grow throughout the seven years of Resurgence both with us and with other promotions has been one of the joys of British Wrestling. We are so incredibly proud of you, and to have you as our champion.
Congratulations also to Act Two who became our new Resurgence Tag Team Champions. The future is now & we look forward to seeing what comes next.
A word as well to Bullit, Spike Trivet & Mike Bird who have told such a compelling story with the Arthouse Championship
Congratulations must also go to Charles Crowley and his Spirit of Resurgence victory.
To all other talent who continue to put so much energy into Resurgence, again THANK YOU. That the Midlands was able to host us, Elevation, Burning Heart and Rev Pro on a single night speaks volumes for the amount of incredible talent in the UK, and also for the passion to see it. That brings us nicely to our fans. I'm so lucky in what I do at Resurgence to hear all the nice things shared with me on what Resurgence means to you. That was a messy sentence.
Be it a safe space, an escape, a place to meet with friends, we understand and strive to do what is right by you all. THANK YOU for the love and effort you put into us.
Our thanks also to Troy and Charles. Not just for your show day work, or the pizza, but for the near daily messages you receive from Sam and I about all manner of things. A special thanks also to Claire and Daisy who have rode this wave since day one and play such a huge part in what we do.
To The Y Theatre and their team, the medics, Rob, Karl, Callum, Alec, Danny, Lauren, Jerry thank you for all you do. It is not lost on us how privileged we are to work with such good people.
I'm terrified I've missed someone out, & if I have I'm sorry. I do not think a two show day suits my being!
I always feel a bit of an idiot for writing these, but I never want to lose sight of how grateful I am to be able to do this.
& we'll do it again. Saturday 22 March 2025.
With love from Wrestling Resurgence. 🎭
For fans, performers, and everyone involved, wrestling often acts as a mirror of real life. Wrestled fights encapsulate the full range of human emotion: the joy of play, the heartache of defeat, the satisfaction of a hard-earned victory. Above all, there’s the constant struggle—the fight to take control and the grind of repetition.
For the last seven years, John, Claire, and I have grappled with both life and wrestling in countless ways. It hasn’t gotten easier, but maybe that’s the power of wrestling—and the reason we care so deeply about it.
Last night’s main event was billed as “One More Time” and what a contest it was! When Charli Evans returned to claim the Resurgence Championship in June, she stood face-to-face with her nemesis, Kanji. The crowd erupted with a chant: “One more time, one more time!” That sentiment was positive—a celebration of commitment and legacy. But for us, it hit deeper. Every show for a while now has felt like one more.
Last night was an end. However, it will not be the end. The world faces an uncertain future, but maybe that’s why we need Resurgence more than ever. So we will continue to share the joy, embrace the heartache, revel in the victories, and celebrate the struggle—one more time, and every time after that.
