On Tuesday 7th, February, we join schools and youth organisations across the UK in celebrating Safer Internet Day 2023.
Safer Internet Day is a global campaign to promote the safe and responsible use of technology, which calls on children and young people, parents, carers, teachers, social workers, law enforcement, companies, policymakers and more to help to create a better internet.
Using the internet safely and positively is a critical message that we promote in school, and celebrating Safer Internet Day is an excellent opportunity for us to re-emphasise the online safety messages we deliver throughout the year.
We would be delighted if you could join us in celebrating the day by continuing the conversation at home. To help you with this, the UK Safer Internet Centre has created some free activities and information for parents and carers, which are available at:
http://ow.ly/vXal50MK2RY
Whether you have 5 minutes to start a conversation or hours to spare, there are top tips, quizzes and films which you can use at home with your child.
If you have any concerns or questions about keeping your child safe online, please contact your child’s class teacher or our Designated Safeguarding Lead.
For February, our Book of the Month is a Valentine mystery. Take a chance and pop along to the Reading Room for a 'Blind date with a book'.
We're looking forward to our trip to the University of Leicester today. It's a wonderful opportunity for our students to access information about higher education. #uniofleicester

Students had a fantastic time at the TeenTech MTI Festival last week. They particularly enjoyed the VR Health and Safety arm chopper and box avalanche!

Yesterday, students in 9X1 took part in the Media Literacy Ambassador Training delivered by The Guardian Foundation. As part of the training, our students were taught about media bias/manipulation and the prevalence of 'fake news' in the press. We were impressed that The Guardian representatives even acknowledged some of their own newspaper's misleading headlines. This was a really worthwhile activity for our students, and those involved responded extremely positively. 9X1, as ambassadors, will now deliver workshop sessions on media bias to their peers. Thank you to Mrs Karolia for organising the opportunity and Mrs Rashid for facilitating the workshop and leading the peer training. The Guardian will also be presenting at our English Hub meeting on 1st February. They will be providing some CPD on news reporting and opinion writing.
In 2022, Her Majesty The Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee after 70 years of service.
Moat students and staff sent a letter congratulating Her Majesty on the occasion and have received a letter and card thanking them on behalf of the Queen.
We are seeking to appoint an outstanding and committed teacher to teach History across KS3/KS4. http://ow.ly/FtjE30k6NzY
